the good thing is paintball is getting cheaper and cheaper(mostly markers) I am saving tons of money with these prices I really am not a fan of sp. But to make things "fair and balanced" I am happy that paintball industry is still doing ok(not at best). I am looking forward to the 08 markers
you do know the only reason they are selling for cheaper and cheaper is that smartparts already gets a cut out of everybody elses marker $$$ meaning that they don't have to make as much profit off of there own markers because they are already taking their piece of the pie, so they can undercut the rest of the market.

the "industry" is not doing OK the top three companys are doing OK.

you guys are all hating just because its smart parts.
you say that like there is somthing wrong with hating smartparts.
what better reason to hate on it then the manufacturers are a bunch of scumbags?
that and it is chineese lowest bidder CRAP ( probably has lead paint :) )

If everyone is paying royaties to Smart PArts would the prices go up rather than down? It doesnt make since. I think the only gun the pays royalties is dangerous power. That is the only gun that i have seen a price increase.

Look at the tv or vcr when they first came out. They cost hundred and hundreds of dollars(when they premiered many many years ago! Same with computers. As the technology advances , as the competition increases, prices will gradually drop. THat is what we see in paint ball today. I know i am beating a dead horse, but look at the proto rail, the invert mini, the sp epiphany(retailed around 399.00.) the technology of those markers cost at least 1000 dollars 5 + years ago. There was even auto-cocker's that retailed at 1500.00+ dollars.
I as a veteran and as a consumer of paint ball (8 yr) I am happy of the prices have drastically decreased, since i began playing :)

Also, when you outsource your manufacturing to a country where labor is cheaper, your prices drop. And again, if you start using cheaper materials. Most paintball markers used to be made in good ol' USA. Our manufacturing processes and labor cost more green. For various reasons. Therefore 5+ years ago, the same tech available for less now, used to cost $1000+; in addition to the competition increase and ease of manufactoring.

I like the price drop too. But to make the market prices drop so dramatically by patenting everyone's tech as your own just so you can drop the price on your Plastic - Chinese manufactured product is just low. (Albeit good for your own business)

look I hate to defend smartparts but aren't they located in Pennsylvania? I hear thats where manufacturing and what not goes down. Anywho I don't think I'm going to be getting one of these, but it's IMO an alright option for a rookie player to get into the sport. I mean, I don't thing anyone is going to be using this at NPPL but for a rec player that gets out may once every 2 months whats the harm?

They'll be supporting smart parts, and if you spend 150 on a gun you better get out more than once in a while, especially if you're a kid and your parents buy you it on a whim.

Also, i love how he says that the bolt in sear actuated guns makes it rock back and forth, but a pneumatically actuated bolt doesn't make the gun move around cause the bolt doesn't move, right?
