You know what would really help? Make ULE bodies that either have changable breeches that accept different barrel threads - or make a couple of different ULE bodies that take M98, A5, and regular cocker barrels.

It'll be a lot easier to bring the guys around who have already invested in one platform if they can use the equipment from it.

Also, the more I think about it the ability to attack at least a CAR style stock is a must.

        From a different thread...

Interesting post from a different thread. I'm posting it here with my response.

However, and I may be alone in this opinion, it appears to be sporting the new AGD rail, which looks horrible on the Tac-One.

So, having seen some of RF's work on rails, I thought perhaps this would be an opportunity for him to crank out another one. In this case, I think angular is preferable. The more military the better. And with your adjustable position front grip I think it would be a winner.

Perhaps you could extend it out to flush up with the end of the Tac-One body. Another idea would be to include a "D" ring at the rear for guys who use slings...like me.

I think there's a big opportunity here to help the Tac-One fullfil it's desire to look more mil-sim. Even a custom gas-through that looked similar to a magazine would even be pretty easy to do I would think.

Anyway, just a suggestion...anyone else think this would contribute to the over all Tac-One concept?
Remember the rail in the pic is plastic and just a model - the real thing will be powercoated. I do agree on the point. While the new rail looks awesome for the regular mag line it looks out of place on the TAC1. I know that AGD is trying to keep the price down - so it is a tough compromise. The issue is that the scenario guys love Milsim to the Nth degree - but it appears Airgun is trying to reduce operational costs buy having components that interchange between multiple lines.

Maybe they should consider a entry level Tac1 and a "full-house" model? There has got to be the option for add-ons - the AGD dealers will need them to make profits, and the owners will crave them. No offense to Rogue (I love his work) but I'd like to see AGD start a line of parts like the GTA stuff.

The D ring is a great idea also.

The rail for military style foregrips is an awesome idea and would be a real "killer" feature. By this I mean you are then hitting back against the A5 on it's own turf. Right now guys are modding the Tippmann marker to accept those grips (The MP5 style is stock) - it would be real leverage for the Tac1 to factory accept the real stuff with no jury rigging.

Again, the best idea might be an upgraded rail that would be an add-on.

Anyone got ideas on how to make the gun compatible with a CAR style stock. That single feature would really put the Tac1 in the same league with the Tippmann.

I'm going to cross post this in the official Tac1 thread, it can be found at the top of the previous page - it is a sticky...

I think it would be wise to keep te cocker threads .Cocker threading is put on alot of markers why? With cocker threading barrels are more likely to be found style/length...etc.Cocker threads are the most popular, I have seen people take thier immpys and have it treaded to cocker threads. If your still so hard up on mag /cocker barrels Doc's machine sells addapters for mags to accept cocker barrels .That way you could use both barrels .

My suggestion is not because I need the mag to take Tippmann barrels - it is that most of the target audience of the product already owns Tippmann barrels and they might like the TAC1 to work with what they've already got. Let me give you a "Borgish" example. Microsoft wanted to dominate the enterprise server market that was originally the domain of Novell. Microsoft couldn't do it on the features of their operating system alone - because the "cold turkey" migration from one to another was to much. So, Microsoft came out with a host of "shims" that allowed existing Novell clients to talk to NT servers, and NT servers to operate in the NDS tree, replacing the Novell servers that formerly ran the apps. This ability to gradually (and at less initial cost) migrate was all it took to spell doom for Novell in the enterprise OS market.

I'm comparing the corporate IT industry to paintball, and to certain extent it is apples and oranges - but on another hand, the principals of the "Art of War" apply at any level.

To get people to buy the Tac1 (and the more people who do insures that even more will down the road) make it as easy as possible for them to make the change.

Not to rain on your Tippy parade here, but would you have AGD put the Tac-1 in '98 or A-5 threads? Sure lots of senario-ers and such have Tippys, but they are becoming progessively more split between the two guns (yeah, that sentence's grammar blew).

And what about all those Spyder-clone senario markers out there? I can think of two companies right now that build "realistic" markers from spyder-based parts. Spyders are like the common-cold of paintball; everybody catches it at some point, but nobody wants to keep it.

Your appeal to an already existing mass-market is a smart one, but coming down on which threads to actually switch to makes it a bit difficult to determine which thread is going to appeal to the most people.

AGD has started to ship other markers with Cocker threads. Consistency at this point is optimal. For AGD to make a jump to another thread type would be counterintuitive to their history of attempting to keep everything interchangable (begging the exception of my beloved Classic RT).

Don't get me wrong - I love the interchangability of the mags and I don't even own a tippmann - but most rec/scenario player do. I'm suggesting that a changable breech, or multiple type of ULE bodies be produced. It's gteat that all of the mag stuff plays well together - but that has no bearing on bringing new converts into the fold. I'm suggesting that to win some over it would be helpful for the AGD stuff to work with other equipment as well.

Or we can just wait for them to see the light of blow-forward, single-tube simplicity.

It is rather funny to me, how many people who don't play scenarios or even enough rec ball to count know what scenario players want. There are players in the industry who want mil-sim markers, others who want bright and shiny markers and even other who could care less, just give them something to shoot. For the most part fields rent tippmans, not even 50% of the scenario market is Tippmanns. Every 3 in 10 scenario guns are tippmanns, the biggest competition for Mags isnt Tippmann, its still the cocker and it's variants. Quick trying to build a entry level mag. Build a quality marker that fits the bill for around 550 and you'll get scenario players buying them. CO2? Give me a break I haven't used CO2 in like 3 years, every field I've gone to play scenario games at (75 games in 4 years) has had nitrogen or compressed air of some sort. They may not have hit 4500 but that have hit 3k. That's my .02 for what it's worth. I am waiting to get one of these markers in to review at Scenario News, hopefully before the Texas Throwdown
