Well, as said by a wise man many moons ago, this sucks!!! The only marker I have now, AGD, and the next marker I was going to buy, AKA Viking, are in the weird world of SPland. I hope the best for AKA, and really hope that no other compnay will be "next" on SPs list. Does anyone have a direct link to SPs patent or lawsuit? I am interested to read what they patent.

So can I just buy the one you had at cup? :-) Seriously folks that thing was awe inspiring. I would have given nicad a 1000 bucks on the spot if I would have thought he would have sold it to me. Yup thats right I would pay a grand for a mechanical marker...at least that one.

If you keep thinking only of your company SP is going to plow through, one by one, and you'll be screwed eventually. But I'm sure you have a gameplan already.
AGD is too small to do much finacially for AKA.
WGP won't help AKA as they took AKA to court and lost against AKA so theres no love lost b/t them.
WDP is the only one that can help AKA finacially.

This is something absolutely absent in paintball tourneys but something that could have a significant market segment waiting for it. The question is, is there enough people who want to play like this? I think too many pballers today would rather take all the shortcuts they can to win and would never go for this format. AGD is right, it's the players causing E-markers to be a neccessity. I'd love mech-format, I think 20 people firing 20-30bps with trigger bounce makes for a dumb game, skill in moves and positioning is what thrills me.

There are some good sized groups that could promote the mech-only league. The POG is one of them, as well as the mech contingent of the cocker and mag communities. This would be our base core of players with which to start the league. Add in the anti-sp stance of custom airsmiths such as Glen Palmer, Doc Nickel, Big Matt, and others, the mech only tournies could be promoted. Then drag in the stock class contingent lurking in the wood work.

The visible portion of the pball community (the electro-toting tourney community) is, as we all should know, a huge MINORITY in pball. THe vast majority are mech toters playing in the woods. I am one of them. I own two mechs: sniper and a blazer, and love them both. I'm a dedicated woods player, but I'd play in a mech-only tourney league of the caliber we're talking about. However, then comes the question of promotion. Well, here we come again to WORKING TOGETHER. WGP, AGD, PPS, Kingman, and TIPPMAN need to work TOGETHER to promote a mech-only tourney league, and then talk to field owners about hosting the tournies. This is key. If the companies do NOT work together, then all these ideas will be worthless.

              AO,
I think we have to put the mech tourney in perspective. In my mind atleast, this isnt going to be some huge nationwide event. Maybe it should start out as a single event yearly and if the money is there then begin with a small 'tour'

Glenn Palmer releases the Tempest for sale (an autococker with an RT trigger)
Dear lord NO IT ISN'T! The Tempest is a BLAZER with an RT, and PPS has adamantly stated that they will NOT make any more as it is far too easy to sweet spot it into runaway and it has a VERY high ROF in runaway.

Back to the autococker/blazer issue. The autococker is a WGP copy of Glen's Typhoon design. That's right, Glen designed autococking pneumatics before Orr, and even showed orr how to make his sniper into a semi. Orr took that and released the autococker. In the mid 1990's, Glen and his son, Craig, took all that they'd learned in building semi's, and designed the Blazer, which is still reputably the fastest mech semi in production around.

The point of that part of my post was not to debate whos cooler/came first whatever because frankly I dont care. The point was that if we go mech only, AGD/WGP will have a jiont monopoly on the market... I fail to see how that is any better than SP having it. And if glenn doesnt realize that RT triggered guns would dominate the heck out of a mech only world and release the tempest for sale, then one of the orrs will make one for the cocker.

Thats the first time I've ever heard that. Palmers is known for having bad triggers (which is why they introduced the "Pro Touch" trigger job a few years back).

Since when? My blazer's triger is almost impossible to short stroke. That, and some guys that have been shooting electros longer than I've been playing have asked me if my blazer was one of the rare eblazers, b.c of how fast I was able to shoot it w.o short stroking . I told them, no, this was just a normal blazer.

Anyway, I could go into details about how that statement is flawed, but that'd be thread hijacking, and the LAST thing we need is mech users battling mech users. We need to focus on OUR enemy: The Gardner Brothers.

Theres nothing in patent law that says that, the owners of a patent can do what they choose with it. If you own a gun do you have to shoot it? No, even if thats what its for. They filed the patent and waited years until the electro business and paintball became big enough for them to make tons of cash off it.
