    Paintball at your High School?

I was just wondering if any of your high schools have a paintball team or club? And how I should go about trying to get one going for the coming school year?

By the way, here are some pics of my new gun.

I've always thought it would be neat for a high school to have a club for paintball, but seeing as how most high schools are ignorant and would assume that paintball = school shooter training... I really doubt they exist, at least here they don't, and the idiots that decide to shoot our school with Wal-Mart guns (I want to smack some people) probably wouldn't make it any better.

Nice gun BTW, the one i'm building is pretty similar (Intelliframe tho).

try and find a teacher who plays, and who would endorse and oversee such a club. I've never tried because of the nature of our school (gay) and because i already have both good paintball players in our school on my team.

Same here, I just though it would be cool if it was all school sponsored like football or track. You have to admit it would be pretty sweet to have a dye jersey with your school colors on it and playing tournys against other schools. It would also be cheaper that way.

I am a teacher/administrator at a high school in Boston. I have thought of starting up a paintball club, but in reality, if I can't get the seniors to pay $50 for a full color yearbook, how am I going to get them to pay for a club that costs so much? I think that you would probably have more luck in suburbia, if you could find a teacher who plays. Most high schoolers here in the Boston Public Schools dont have a load of money, unless you look at a school like Boston Latin (I am an alum) which has a higher population of middle/upper class kids.

Personally I say forget trying to get your school to pay for anything, in reality it won't happen.

Instead see if the school will allow you to hang up flyers, announcements, and maybe if they will let you have a room for a meeting after school sometimes. Thats about all you will get out of a highschool. It's best just to get other people in the school who are already interested, to get together and go play.

College is different on the other hand.

Yes, thats true but my high school has a ski club that I was part of and we took coach busses to ski spots in Iowa and Wisconsin which usually cost between $40 to $60 bus fare included so I figure if they did the same thing paintballing it would be around the same cost, also half of the school plays paintball and there would be no shortage of people not going because they dont want to pay the cash, but I would rather spend $50 at the paintball field than on a year book wouldn't anyone?

hehe...I'm in "Suburbia" and we have a club. And no, the school doesn't pay for anything. But then again, my town is overflowing with paintball. We have perhaps (edit) 100+ who play, out of 1800.

Just present your case using facts, statistics, etc...avoid asking for money from the school. Make sure you touch on the schools lack of responsibility for anything you guys do. Talk about safety, etc...

                    Good luck!

Haha! True enough! I have had quite a few students mention paintball to me when they see Safari stuck on AO all day. Paintball might be a way to get the gangbangers to vent some of their frustrations. If only the MIAA (state athletic association) would sanction PB as an approved/funded sport. Buy a speedball field or two...hire some refs and coaches from local teams... Ah the possibilities...

I know when I bring it up there going to think its too dangerous and all that bs and I'll have a hard time trying to convince them but I think I'll get those stats that say theres less injuries in golf and tennis combined than in paintball and show them that also the part that the school won't be liable nor the field once the parents sign the forms for their kids to get into the field.

at my school we dont have a team or club or anything, but we are trying to get more people to play. we have alot but not enough, so it might be a good idea to try and more teacher involved too. I know that younger teachers would probually play if they got they could, but who knows. Get more envolved and maybe one school may make a diffrence.

Ya, hopefully if one high school can start a successful team then many others will follow.
