i would agree with you that the 98 is not the greatest tourny marker around.
i would also agree that it is too soon to question the longterm reliability of a product that has only been out a few months, be it the Ion or anything else.

i am a bit offended by the negative woodsball reference though.

after reading your closing remark i can see where people get the idea that all tourny/speedball/hyperball/airball players are jerks.

i'm not saying that you were wrong in your analysis of the marker, or in your criticism of the comparison between the 98 and the Ion. but it just seems that you forget that paintball started in the woods, and even though paintball as a sport has advanced a great deal, the vast majority of paintball is still played in the woods.

the idea that only "noobs"play woodsball seems a bit well... wrong.

i play both and enjoy both forms of play for diferent reasons.

maybe i'm reading too much into it but it seems to me that it wasn't a very nice or well thought out thing to say.

on another note, i find it interesting that this thread went from a simple Ion video to an all out Mags VS Ions brawl.

    eh, i'm done.

Okay, my bad. That was kinda taken outta context. I wasnt referring to ALL woods/rec players being noobs, just vohort. But, you have to admit, at most rec fields there are a lot of begginers. At least at the local field here, there are. I actally get treated worse at that field because of my paintball attire. All the guys in cammo and tippmann RTs gawk at me, team up and even overshoot me after the game is over. Not all of them. For the most part they are cool, but there is always one jerk at the field that just finished basic training or is in the marines who is more of a jerk than anyone ive met at tournaments/tournament style fields. Please dont take this outta context if you are in the marines. Im sure you know that in basic training there was always a few guys that think they are badarse and run the place.

I think its funny that everyone bases performance on speed alone. There are so many other qualities of a gun that make it great.

yeap 19 years of noobie woodsball goodness and still going strong. I've probably been playing this game longer than most of the people on here have been alive.

        1. I have played tourney with a 98c with out the Rt. yes people snickered.. until they LOST to me and my team.

        2. the 98c with an RT i have never had any of the problems that you mention. I don't chop. I have never had the gun not re-cock.

        3. I really don't give a flying rats behind what you think of me.

        4. I'm still not impressed with the video.

        5. If you ever met me and don't act like an arse.. you will probably walk away thinking I'm one of the nicest people you ever played with. If you come in with an attitude then yeah.. I"m going to blow you off. I lend guns, hoppers, tanks out to new players all the time.

we have something in common. . But, the problems w/ the 98 RT that I mentioned above do exist. Maybe you havent ripped on one long enough to get them. Ive chopped w/ it plenty of times though. I honestly dont think a 98RT is as good as an Ion. Thats my opinion though.

agree and 99% or tourny's wont let you use a RT. and if they do i will just put my debounce to like 1 and let my gun bounce like mad.

yakatori and the rest of the IoN lovers lets just leave it at this. I"m not impressed with the gun. You guys are. I don't feel that the ION is the next great thing in paintball. The rest of you do. Basically we must just agree to disagree. I don't think I personally took any shots at anyone here. I just stated my opinion that, "I'm not impressed". If you want to attack me, then fine go for it. I know my record as a player. I know my record as far as the years I have spent in this game. If you want to call me a noobie because I don't like gun XYZ,, go for it. Guys at the local feild call me the rookie all the time. (mostly because i show up with my pgp). I really don't care. I play paintball in all its forms. I enjoy woodsball over speedball. I like mechanical and pump guns over electros.

So basically.. I offer my hand in the form of a hand shake and say,. Let bygones be bygones. I agree to disagree with you on the subject of the ION.
