My team uses Ghetto Fabulous(tm) Viewloader Triads. We made them ourselves. I think we overhype them a lot. It's so funny to see the look on kids faces when we break out the marker and yell "Ghetto Fabulous!" They think were gods or something.

So far the mods on my personal marker includes
    "Custom milling" with a dremel
    Evlution II hopper
and coming soon a electronic frame.

It depends on what forums you're on, or where you are.

      Here? Mags.
      OMFG IT SHOOTS SO FAST
After you turned the reactivity up.
After you Slap that electro Frame on it
After you installed the pneumatic trigger kit into it.

Don't get me wrong. My primary marker is a mag.
It'll probably always be a mag.
      Why?
      Because I like it.

Id say on this site, the most overrated gun is mags, but its a mag website. We arent talking about this site alone, but the entire paintball community.

If we are talking the entire community, then Shockers, Timmys, and ANgels are the three most overrated guns there are.

Yup im selling my 05 speed and 04 Viking but keeping my Proto. Just plain shoots smoother and steadier at speed imo.

Think about it like this: Pro team using sponer marker comes to town for a tourny and wins big. Impressed newb talks to a few of the team players and they all tell aforementioned newb that he needs the marker they use and it will make him a better player because their marker is the fastest and can shoot the farthest and so on. Newb then goes to his friends and tells them the same thing the pros told him about this fabulous marker that will make them all better players.

Is that not overrating and overhyping a marker to get people to by it? Yes it is very simplistic, but when was the last time you saw a newb walk on to the field with a $600-$900 gun? People buy the hype, and if all the see being hyped is markers the pro teams are playing with, they may not see past it to the fact that the marker is only part of the picture and not the whole painting. As far as the other guns being underrated, I haven't seen any pros playing with any of the markers listed here.

And if those teams are still being sponsered they must have some success at pushing their product. Because no company wants to pay for marketing and not receive any return on their investment.

I DONT see many noobs w/ a 900 dollar gun. I also think that most ppl that play paintball, dont know or care what such and such team shoots. many players cant even tell you the team gun. So, ppl dont guy spend 800+ on a gun just because such and such team uses them. Thats retarded. Ppl buy the 800 dollar gun because it matches their idea of what qualities a gun should have. And I must say that not many teams shoot vikings/excals, but they shoot great. not many teams use DM4s anymore either, its usually the DMC or DM5, or ego, or next new timmy, or angels, etc.

And for the record, DMs shoot better than any mag. Nuff said. .

Over-rated- When the Impulse was a very popular marker, everyone said it was the best marker they had ever shot. After all the upgrades, they still did not perform too well.

Overhyped- When the Nerve was intially being advertised, it was incredibly hyped. Is it a great marker with a good design? Yes. Was it worthy of those ads? No.
Hey, look at that! It's Santa!

[QUOTE=can'tthink of1]No, wraths are nothing like actual high end guns. Wraths still shoot just like a spyder.

You obviously havent had too much experience with a Wrath, Nothing like a spyder. It is modeled after the Timmy and operates like one. Does not even compare to a Spyder.

Over rated - Any marker you decide it should be.

Under rated - Same as above

Over hyped - Same as above.

I make the same statement for all 3 categories simply because marker choice is always a personal preference. What I think is a great marker you may think is a piece of junk. I'm partial to older pump markers for fun play. However, I also bought an Ion early on and have been very happy with it. For all those who complain so loudly about the "quality" of the marker, mine has had probably 30 cases of paint shot through it since I got it and the only part I've had to replace is one that I broke myself while messing with things I shouldn't have been messing with. It serves me very well for the real reason I buy any marker. It shoots paintballs out the correct end of the barrel when I pull the trigger. Since about the only time I play is a scenario it's light enough that my arm doesn't go numb after a few hours. It shoots plenty fast enough, and is consistent enough over the chrono I don't have to worry about shooting hot during the game. Was it and is it still over hyped? Not really. When you consider all that advertising is is hype then I'd say SP carried out a very effective marketing campaign. You may not agree with the business ethics of SP and I won't even bring that into the discussion at all. I compare that to a discussion of politics, best to not even bring it up.

Over Rated - Im going to say most electronic markers simply for the fact that they complicate the gun far more than your normal mechanical marker. How many people can actually fix their electronic markers on their own. And I don't mean just putting in another "cheater board". And even if they can fix their own marker how many times have you seen these guys on the field fumbling with their electros hoping that turning a battery around will provide power for those last few shots. How many take pride in those markers other than look what my mommy bought me kind of pride.

Over Hyped - I look into the hands of the pros to see what is over hyped. Whatever that may currently be.

Under Rated - The lowly pump. I have to give props to any marker that forces you to play paintball and not button smashing / ELECTROS are the NOOB CANNONS of paintball.

I would just like to say I am new to the mag world. I have tried a variety of markers and in all honesty find the mag to be a very enjoyable paintball marker to shoot. I am not into what is cool hot or new (already tried that route but found it to be expensive with small returns in the form of enjoyment. I am into what is fun and what gets everyone having a good time. If that means I am on the field with just a slingshot then that is what I will do to liven up the crowd.

I claim as my official title the Ex High School Band Groupie.

Im not sure if I would be proud of carrying around and crying out the wonders of products that actually use Cheater in the title. Just my opinion, could be wrong. (I am not wrong)

Really now? Operates like a timmy? Nope, timmy's aren't spring returned. Shoots like a spyder I hate to say. Don't try to defend some POS cheap marker. I've shot em, and they shoot just like a spyder. Slow, horrid trigger, bulky grip, and just an overall cheap feel, and their performance matches the feel.

Anytime man. Thats what I'm here for.

But in all seriousness, he was trying to say the Wrath was like a high end marker. And I hate when people think their $300 is somehow magically as good as actual high ends. He was wrong when he said it was designed off of a timmy. It's closer to a spyder with its clapper noid than it is to a timmy.
