AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Why has the 'Cocker survived, while the Mag suffers?
93civiccpe, I can't agree more. I grew up shooting an autococker in a mag world. Whenever I played my friends with mags destroyed me, I loved those guns and always wanted one but could never get into a store to buy one or let alone find one used. They were the thing to have, and my friends still shoot them. I wasn't involved with AO until recently when i bought an older MiniMag. But this site is what made me finally make that purchase.
Being new, I just wanted to point out that you all have something really special going on here. There is no other place that I can go on the internet or anywhere else to see anyone so dedicated, and so loyal to a product. I have never seen anyone as proud as someone shooting a 'mag, they know what they're a part of; history, and greatness. What Tom has done for everyone here at AO and the industry is really something amazing, he started a revolution. The only thing that's keeping it alive is everyone here. AO has been keeping the mag alive in their own way, but needs to find some way to step up. Something needs to be done, after my experiences with my mag, theres no reason why every kid at a field shouldn't know what they look like, they should never be mistaken for an ION. Someone needs to step in and follow in Tom's foot steps, because after reading his retirement thread, unfortuneately I don't think he's going to be back...
It's up to us...I love my cocker, but theres NO REASON why any gun should ever overshadow a Mag... my 2 cents...
Personally I think the reason mags are suffering is because morron's and money rule the sport... Seriously it's like every gooner with more money then talent trained 12 clones and then they trained 12 more. I think that AGD should hire Karl Rove to do there PR and advertising...I hear he's gonna need a new job soon
Girls are no substatute of paintball
Murphy's law of paintball: If it jams force it. If it breaks it needed replacing anyways
paintball split into tourney players and scenario/rec ball players, not enough performance for tourney nowadays and too expensive for most weekend warriors
Look for the pred. board xmag in CFOA next year!

marketing
never implementing an ACE system
inferior electronics
monetary means (autocockers now have K2 backing them)
lack of new products (no cosmeticly pleasing aftermarket parts)
the loss of tom kaye
the list goes on
if i had been the head of airguns i would:
have taken our existing top of the line valve (which in my opinion is still one of the fastest and best valves out there) redesigned an attractive and lightweight body with some cosmetic as well as performance upgrades to market it with, implemented an ACE backed with electronics that can compete and marketed the hell out of it.
airguns missed out in the beginning of the now ACE dominated market, and they have suffered, also never updating their gun platform left them in the dust.
Yes I think they worried more about function and quality than bling and that has cost them.
If they made their products more flashy they would do a lot better.
Function and quality are of course more important, but today its all about flash.
There still pushing the 68 classic and its 15 years old. Its time to melt down the ones they have left and make something else that will catch the new 14 year olds eye.
I saw a Trilogy players kit at Dunhams Sports for $249.99. Couldn't believe it. Even though I'm not a cocker fan (just got one as a project gun...have never fired one)...I always thought they were an "elite" marker...too good to be sold at Wal Mart or the discount store between the Spyder Extra and JT Excellerator. Just seemed strange to me.

The trilogy series was created to cater to the newer players and sold in stores like Wal-Mart.
That was the whole point of the trilogy series; to get the cocker name into the mainstream, to get it in to player's hand who otherwise would have never stepped into a proshop.
Every wounder why it had an intergrated 3-way? Its to reduced players from tinkering too much like on a normal cocker.
Its not considered elite and never be will.
While I wouldn't consider a mag or cocker high end anymore they are still elite markers in the mech category.
Just one had better marketing than the other.
