The manual states that third level menu items (which solenoio on/off are) are selected using the trigger. Unless I am reading it wrong.Originally posted by Lightfootall basic info on the xmod software includeing navigation can be found in the manual

I will have to try it again tonight. But as I remember it you are cycling through the modes with the bottom button. So it changes the mode. It wouldn't change the solenoid selection.

Hey Big Evil
For some reason I'm starting to have cycling problems again. As far as the Black X goes, I couldn't seem to get it running again, so I had to flash it back to 3.2 to get it running for a game this last weekend. I was having similar problems to you, so if you can run through a step by step of problem solving my issues, that would be great. The E-Chord actually faired better, but it started venting out of the back of the velocity adjuster. I swapped the piece inside the velocity adjuster from a working valve, but it was still venting unfortunately. I back it out until it was almost completely unscrewed and was still venting, so I'm going to have to send the X-Valve in to have AGD do some maintenance on it. The E-Chord seems to have taken the ULT solution fine. After a while putting the ULT on to the Black X seemed to only solve it temporarily and then it would stopped cycling over time. Any solutions? I also did notice that the software on the X was glitchy because the Dwell settings would migrate and the Fix settings would progressively get lower with no ability to set it higher than before. I tried reflashing the software, but to no avail. It is the same hex file I used on the E-Chord and I haven't notice the same problem on the E.Originally posted by BigEvilXmod after-action report for 4/2/06
Gun:Xmag
ROF 17, and later 20
FIX 15
Dwell 15
OMFG. I used the Xmod'd Xmag today for the first time since overhauling it. Im am still stunned. The Xmod turned my nice little Xmag into a beast.
I did have some problems with my warp-link cable. I have to check it, I think I pinched it. SO I abandoned the warp for the more conventional Halo on top.
I played most of the day with the ROF at 17 and the ACE on. It ripped. No problems, no hanging noid, no missed shots. Later in the day, for the last game I moved the ROF up to 20 and still kept the ACE on. It worked great. It seems that as long as you have the ACE keeping the speed of the gun inline with how fast the balls are feeding you dont run into the same BS you do when dry firing the gun.
My Etac didnt fair so well. I lent it out to my friends buddy, who is basically still a noob. He wet his pants using it, but did manage to break as many balls in it as actually left the barrel.
All in all, an A+ performance. If I wasnt such a homophobe, I would kiss Lornecash is I ever met him.Comment

plunger length?
Originally posted by BigEvilGreat to hear you had good results. I feel your pain with the broken ball in the loader. The same thing happened to me Sunday. I started carrying a cordless screwdriver with me for the dedicated purpose of taking my Halo apart.
It seems that we are having much better results with the higher ROF using the ACE. Now that I am comfortable that I have the Xmag all set, Im going to concentrate on the E-tac. Im curious to see how fast I can get it to shoot with just the lvl10 and no eye system.
Also here something interesting that I have suspected but now can confirm.
The solenoid plunger length is very important. I have a gun here with 2.4 on it that works with the solenoid plunger that is set as short as it can go. I put 3.2 and Xmod on it, and it didnt work with either one. I adjusted the length to spec and it worked much better. The still seemed a little weak, so I lengthened that adjustment by about half a turn, which the noid seemed to like very much.
So if you are having issues getting the gun to fire in E, check that adjustment.
What is the spec for the plunger length?Comment

Any venting out of the back (velocity Adj hole) is usually the Reg Pistion overpressure-safety. They are factory set, once they go they have to be replaced. Depending on the age of the gun, I would suguest also replacing both reg springs while you are at it ($2x), and the Reg Pin, since 99% of people do not change them with regular maintenance.
I also wouldnt hurt to make sure the on/off quad oring, and the oring in the center of the on/off body arent swollen, dry or deformed.
As far as the cycling problem, what were your settings? Also what was your air pressure into the gun? Im pretty sure that is the gun is physically ok, you shouldnt have issues up to 17bps, and definately not at 15bps.
I am going to assume (which is dangerous) that you checked that the solenoid is wired properly. The test with the compass Lornecash shows in the manual is simple and very very helpful. For the cost of a $5 compass you can eliminate a major headache before you even flash the gun. If you havent checked it, do that FIRST, swap the wires if needed, then try the gun and see if its anybetter.
I just installed the Xmod on Sean33's xmag. I almost had a heart attack because when I gassed it up to test it, it didnt fire on E mode and I thought I somehow screwed something up. Even increasing the dwell to the max only allowed it to fire one time, then it stopped again. At that point I suspected the noid. I took the grip off and right away noticed that the solenoid plunger was set WAY WAY too short. Either someone messed with it, or it broke loose and spun itelf like that. (Which was probably, because there was NO loc-tite on the threads) I took another sear/plunger I had and set Sean's to a little longer (like 1/4-1/2 turn) than the factory. Tunaman told me that once these noids get older they can get cranky and SLIGHTLY increasing the length will help make them happy again.
So it is very important to make sure that plunger is set up right. If its too short, the noid will have a tough time 'grabbing' it.
Also, make sure your trigger rod is clear of the trigger when you are shooting fast. Mine was hitting the back of the trigger, causing it to bounce like mad. I took me a while to figure that one out. (duh)
So far, I see that the things you need to make sure the gun cycles at its fastest are;
-input over 800
-properly wired noid
-in-spec plunger length
-a good noid
We all thought we were shooting fast with 3.2 in semi mode. Now we can see how wrong we were.
Keep us posted and let us know how you make out.Comment

suggestion
It seems that alot of the beta testers are haveing issues with the mechanical part of the gun,
it would be a good idea in general if, before we start testing the xmod software that we all go
thru our markers and give them a tuneup and replace all orings and check to make sure that all
adjustable parts are within specs for that particular marker, then and only then can we really
test the software for kinks
just a suggestion

Mech trouble
My Xmag shot perfect with no issues since I bought it but has a big bolt sticking issue with the Xmod. I dont think it has anything to do with the software beyond the fact it shoots so much faster now. As with anything mechanical when you put more stress on it more things will fail sooner and more often. Im sure even under normal use it would have shown up eventually. I have to thank Lorn for all his help and I love the program. With one little cheap mod I have updated my xmag from the most beautifully built marker with outdated operating system to a modern up to date all the slick gee wiz bells and whistles death machine. I have to wait 3 weeks for it to get back from AGD for its check up and tune up. It will be rough ... might start drinking heavily LOLComment

BTW, bolt stick chould be from too low a dwell. If the bolt is draging on the sear enough to keep if from locking up you would get bolt stick. If you haven't sent it off already you could try increasing the dwell.

Im already seeing guns that work perfectly with AGD 2.4 and 3.2 that need to be tweeked in order to use the Xmod. I have one gun that was fine with 2.4, I put Xmod on it and it wouldt fire no matter how high I set the Dwell to. Once I adjusted the plunger length it worked great at 15 ms of Dwell on the Xmod.Comment

Setup: X-Mag, stock Halo
MOD: Semi
ROF: 26
ACD: On
Delay: 2
FIX: 23
Dwell: 15
Psi input: 800 From NitroDuck X-treame Adjustable
Had a chance to use it last night for the first time. Wow. I set the ROF to 26 cuz that's what 4.01 is set to so I figured why not. I board is wired incorrectly and I had no FA problems. In practice mod I can hit 15-16 no problem but not any higher so I figure that's the max I was able to acheive but in all honesty who needs more than that.
So, as far as I can tell, I've had no problems yet. Keep up the great work Lorn!

I have a spare that is in spec. Usually one that is out of spec is very obvious. The loc-tite fromt he factory will wear off and it will work itself loose. My Xmag, the plunger adjustment was moving around as I was firing it. Even with it locked in place, the gun had developed a horrible sticking problem. I could shoot it in M mode, but not in E. Tuna suguested the plunger length thing. I made it a few hairs longer, and it seemed to like it. Tuna also said that the noids get 'pissy' as they get older. even though I had mine working, I chose to just replace everything anyhow and start fresh. This way I could be confident that any problems that popped up wouldnt be caused by worn parts.
I think you said you have two guns? Take both of the sear/plungers out and compare them to each other.Comment
