AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
No, I don't think I will. I'm skeptical of even accessing such a site for fear of getting put on the wrong list.
Besides, this is Deerfield, Virginia. I'm so far out in the sticks it makes Dogpatch look positively cosmopolitan. Folks around here like things quiet except on the shooting range.
Happy Father's Day to all you muthas.
We essentially weathered the weekend. The big parade, the "no kings" protests, politicians shot. The reporting I've seen is contradictory.
Each side, whether for or against, makes the same claim that the other side had little to no support. And provide video of empty streets and fields.
I wasn't there, so I can't say what is truth. I guess like all of us, I'll have to make up my own mind.
One thing I was not happy about was the NY Mets game (friday the 13th) against the Tamba Bay Rays.
Prior to the game, they played the National Anthem as usual. Except they did not show the American Flag.
They were flying the "pride" flag. During the National Anthem. On the jumbotron screen.
“Against the Dodgers wishes, their national anthem singer protested the ICE raids in Los Angeles by singing the national anthem in Spanish,” wrote Clay Travis.
In a video released to social media, Nezza was filmed being told not to sing the national anthem in Spanish before doing it anyway.
I blame Colin Kaepernick. He was the first I saw to popularize politics in sports.
When I was growing up, Sports was the one place everybody was assured that they could lay down their differences over anything short of which team was playing.
There were no issues with Race, Gender or political affiliation. Just athletes. Competing for laurels before an audience. As we have for thousands of years.
Meant to be a distraction from divisive issues. "Take me out to the ball game" and all that. Just a bit shy of bread & circuses.
It's nearly shameful that I've had to witness this transformation from an activity that once inspired joyful songs into some political platform of a certain few jamming rhetoric and lies down our throats.
I’m in Los Angeles/east La and have been seeing all kinds of crap protests flags upside down etc etc…I literally leave my house for the market and get back home because of all the BS going on
I never really watched professional sports other than peripherally. It was like watching a stag film. Somebody else having fun.
It was, however, a sanctuary from the horrors outside stadium walls. Now it feels that has been violated.
Aside from the kneeling for the Anthem, the whole gender identification thing. Men claiming to be a Woman to compete in women's sports.
For decades now, our doctors have used drugs and surgery turning inadequate males into nonfunctional females. No longer capable of reproducing the species with either sex.
Neither one nor the other. In between, so to speak.
Isn't that the definition of "Trans"?
The truly ironic facet would be that such a small percentage of the population who identify as trans are the generally the most outspoken about threats to democracy.
<I wrote that several days ago after imbibing more than usual but still seems slightly less than complete idiocy. >
So, what else? I tend to pay attention to world events not attributed to humans. So much more fascinating.
Doesn't mean I'm unaware of SpaceX blowing up on the pad or US Politicians implicated in heinous crimes or new impeachments against Trump.
And, of course, the whole Middle East conflict. The soup du jour in mainstream news is Trump responding against Iran. Will he? Won't he?
Apparently, He may not have to.
Aww, man! Everything is full of Iran. (is there a song title in there?)
Seriously, that's today's elephant in the room. So much chatter both positive and negative.
Obviously, Trump was adamant that Iran should not have atomic weapons. Iran wanted one to bring death to Isreal & America. Trump attempts to cease their production of a nuclear bomb with force.
Only, Iran really doesn't need a bomb. (here comes the conspiracy theory) Think about it.
We know the borders were open to unvetted immigrants, including Iranian Nationals.
How difficult would it be to smuggle in not a bomb, not even enough to collectively reach critical mass. Just small amounts, measured in grams of shielded Uranium.
Not even enriched, merely refined, and spread around cities or college campus. Enough to be detectable. Then an anonymous phone call alerting authority.
Once made public, here in the US the panic and ensuing chaos would be devastating in affected areas. Generate enough fear and watch it all collapse.
Not an original idea, I know. Just thoughts leaking out around the barriers of common sense.
Once again, in the media both the offense and the defense claim victory.
It's like right now, my online weather service says it's a clear 69* outside. The outdoor thermometer says 97*.
So who do you believe? I know I post a lot of links to substantiate my source, but I'm always skeptical whether it's a true account of reality.
Perhaps best expressed when Rev. Peyton sang:
Devils look like Angels,
And Angels look like hell
