I didn't get to see it, but read about it online as soon as articles started showing up.

It looks like the overall reaction is a call for "More time for inspections" or in the case of France, "stronger" inspections.

I think the world just needs time to re-think where they are at, so to be safe, they say the want the inspectors to have more time. Hopefully, many will be changing their tune.

I think it was well presented, but wish there was more of a "smoking gun". Reactions so far from other countries are to continue inspections and give Iraq more time.

I hope the global community will act before they have to react.

By giving a 'smoking gun', they just kill an important source of information.

Trust me, we all know the weapons are there, even liberal America. The US government already knows all that it needs, and they don't have much of a reason to spill the beans right now.

After the war, I am sure they will release all the information they have. Until then, by releasing information, we just kill a source/method of obtaining more.

I think everyone in the world knows we are using satellites and UAVs to monitor them.

The whole purpose of the security counsel meeting was to prove to the other members of the counsel that have veto capabilities that Iraq is in direct violation of the UN resolution 1441. That we must stand together as a global community those violations will not be tolerated.

The problem is, I don't think anyone disagrees that something needs to be done. They just disagree with what should be done. Most people (I being one) disagree that war is NOT the way to solve it. So all this "Information" that the Bush Admin is pushing out is and will not do anything to change the minds of those of us who know the dangers of war in this region and how it will not solve anything. To sway the minds they need to show why war is the way to solve this matter. This will take some work.

                    ...

We are using sources such as hacking their computers, Iraqi officals and generals/etc. of his Royal Army....

After they figure out where the information was leaked, we are cut off and in the dark. We need all the information we can get about Saddam's where-abouts until he is killed.

You sir, are a moron. Regardless of what he does, we shouldn't take action?

We have given him 10+ years to change PEACFULLY. Is he going to change? NO! So what are we supposed to do? Endager American lives, or stop a terrorist dictator?

I am sure we could find a 16 year old in Toledo to hack their computers.

I agree with Shartley that the UN is more humanitarian than discipline, and France is more worried about the economics.

No we haven't spent 10 years trying to peacefull do anything. The sanctions against Saddam was a token sanction in order to please some people.

Alright since you are so keen to call me a moron. What will war solve?

Answer that correctly and I will change my mind.

The US does committ something like 25% of the budged for the UN, but Pakistan pledges the most troops... The US ranks like 3-4 on how many troops we committ.

As for Powell's address, I missed all but the last 10 minutes of it, and saw some of the countries reactions to it.

I think Britains was very good, stating pretty much what other have said here... they don't wan the UN to repeat the mistakes of the League of Nations... But it was all very well worded.

I say any country that does not demand immediate and harsh measures against Iraq is an Enemy of the United States and an Allie of Iraq.
That above all else scares me... The US is getting Imperialistic since Bush has come into power. The more we try to branch out and control things that don't belong to us, the more terror attacks you can expect on our soil. I've said it before, I'll say it again. We can NEVER win a war on terrorism. What we do is prolong the time between attacks. But it can be GUARANTEED that they WILL strike again, when we let our guard down (because that will happen too... just give it a decade or two)... And fighting Iraq (especially if we do it without UN approval) will just produce more terrorists from the children of the soldiers we kill. Unless, of course, we drop food on them as well

                              But this is just MHO...
Hey Zero, how much did that Chipley cost ya?
