If it was spelled that way by a transvetite would it be the Drag-Queen's English?
Actually.....
You're absolutely wrong when it comes to the UK, Canada, and Australia. In Canada the day-to-day head of state is the Governor General (appointed by the Prime-Minister) but officially it's the Queen.
Not really. The UK is techically a Constitutional Monarchy. The Monarch is a symbol with no power (but she has lots of $$$
). The Parliment controls the government.
Israel has the Kennessit (sp?) not a parliament, and by virtue of having a President is a Republic.
Actually, Israel has a parlimentary system. Their presidential position is largely symbolic. Also to have a parlimentary system, you don't have to call it Parliment.

I'll make this my last foray on this topic (which is OT for the thread).

Hey Guys I just got back from the beach. No sign of Saddam down there...
I found this interesting;
Iraqi Minister Denies Baghdad Siege
'No American infidels in city at all'
But yet...here is picture of our guys in the Palace taking a break...

Story about this Palace is here Unbelievble stuff this is.
My heartfelt sympathies to David Blooms family. He did a great job over there and its a tragic loss.
My condolences to the Kurdish troops killed and injured in the Friendly fire incident. Very tragic. It now appears that the air strike was called in to help them overrun an Iraqis position. But unbeknownst to us, the Kurds had captured some Iraqis tanks and were using them and the Air strike didn't know they had em.
You see the Sarin Gas exposure reports?
Looks like Chemical Ali is dead and good ridance to his pathetic sole. He was a real killer of a new magnitude. There will be much Arab world rejoicing over this one. He was wanted by most of them for the major attrocities he commited against the Kurd and Shiite people. He personaly over saw the killings of 100,000 Kurds and untold as yet number Shiites.

Unfortunately friendly fire is a reality of war. Still the Kurds would not have been able to capture any tanks if it wasn't for our assistance.
Most the news, however, is good. I think this will be over soon which is what we all wish no matter what our divergent political beliefs.ULE Body Level 10 Automag intelliframe + retrovalveComment

More Chemical Weapons found? We shall have to wait and see if its confirmed...
In what appeared to be a separate incident, U.S. National Public Radio reported U.S. forces near Baghdad found a cache of 20 medium-range missiles equipped with potent chemical warheads.
Citing a top official with the 1st Marine Division, NPR said the BM-21 missiles were equipped with sarin and mustard gas and were "ready to fire."
U.S. Central Command headquarters in Qatar had no immediate comment on the NPR report.

Yes I heard this during the morning commute. Has not been confirmed. At the same time the U.S. military is starting to tell soldiers that they don't need to wear the chemical suits as they believe that those that might have given the order to fire chemical weapons have either fled or are dead. Hopefully this is true.Originally posted by cphilip

My brother mentioned seeing a news report that showed the population of other arab nations watching television and getting extremely pissed off that we were not suffering heavy casulties in the forays to Baghdad. After the first Gulf war, Afghanistan, and this war there can be no doubt of the superiority of our military training/technology. That being said I think the 9/11 message of not messing with us has been delivered (personally I think the message had already been delivered with Afghanistan but that is another debate entirely). Hopefully we will not need any more military forays into any other countries in the near future!ULE Body Level 10 Automag intelliframe + retrovalveComment

BS. I'll reserve my judgement on whether or not it's banned agents when a reputable news agency reports on it or CENTCOM briefs us.Original quote from pbzmag's story link
The fact that the coalition forces have come up with no clear evidence of WMD after capturing much of Iraq in 19 days of fighting has raised questions over the war's justification.
This one obviously has a serious axe to grind...

I don't they have an axe to grind. The NPR story this morning, however, is different. It was actual warheads discovered that appeared to have some sort of chemical agent. I doubt they would put pesticides in warheads....Originally posted by FactsOfLife

EDIT:
Although it does sort of disprove the theory that the top officials "knew" something the rest of us didn't. Otherwise they wouldn't keep claiming to have found the smoking gun...Last edited by aaron_mag; 04-07-2003, 03:11 PM.ULE Body Level 10 Automag intelliframe + retrovalveComment

I'm way more inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to our boys in the field, than some two bit news agency or pool reporter with an agenda.
the mere fact that this story ends with a slap at the administration, is a disqualifier.
