I only caught part of the debate last night, but it was same old same old. Except that the attacks on Dean were more numbereous and stronger and Clark was there. He held his own just fine, giving a very Arnold performance. He didn't say much, didn't elaborate much, but also didn't fall flat on his face. A perfectly respectable opening.

Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - Tyger

A funny line from Oliver North

One candidate who is running, with help from the Rodham Clintons, is Gen. Wesley Clark. The general took months to decide if he was a Democrat or a Republican. Then he took time to decide if he really wanted to run. Then he agonized about when to announce. He finally got in the race, insisting he can provide the country with decisive leadership.

Most people have 20 odd years to decide on their party and 50+ years to decide if they want to run for office.

I think Olie should be grateful he is not in jail and be at little more reasonable next time.

I didn't get to watch the debate last night, but what I heard from both news channels it seemed pretty good. All the candidates were ganging up on Dean, which is a good thing, and I even loved Sharpton's remarks towards Clark.

What is really funny about that page is the advertisement for a book:
These books tend to have a formula don't they? The joke is the author is the one insulting readers by making money playing on their prejudices against that weird caste of artists.

Yeah, it's the right's versoin of Al Franken and others. I tend to read the Coulter books because she makes me laugh, and for some variety. My serious book reading is reserved for other authors though.

Hey, don't get on CB's back. He's just doing what all fair minded middle of the road centrists do whenever a conservative speaks, vomit in revulsion without actually stopping to hear the words. Didn't you know Aaron, that nothing a conservative says, even in jest, can be left uncontested by these middle of the road centrists. If they didn't oppose one side of the spectrum all day every day they would hardly be centrists :)

You're telling me Clark didn't have any of that? He couldn't have picked his political affiliation in his 50+ years on the planet.

And maybe Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and Jeb Bush (oddly it was always though Jeb would run for President, not George) thought about running for office for 50 years, but I think that's pretty unusual among normal people.

I think Olie should be grateful he is not in jail and be at little more reasonable next time.

I think you should learn how to laugh at a funny comment. I'm a Bush supporter, but that doesn't mean I didn't chuckle at the fake Leno/Bush interview he had on his show the other night

It was more of the same for the accounts I saw and read, which is probably why it wasn't as watched as the last one. Gephardt and Kerry slammed on Dean who retaliated by slamming Clark a little. It's starting to get petty, I can't wait until things really kick off.

Do you remember how Leno burned Clinton at his own going away party with the cat and dog sketch? That was hilarious and Clinton's face was priceless. He was pissed!!!

Yeah and it got petty with Bush/McCain in the primary for 2000. I think McCain started getting pretty pissed.

                      I actually don't remember that.

Yeah it didn, but McCain proved an important point, that running to the middle doesn't win primaries.

Leno was comparing wars between political parties to cats and dogs. You know dog accuses cat of being disinterested in the common man. Then cat counters that dog is involved in improper sexual relations by constantly humping everyones leg. He then finishes by saying haven't we seen enough of this sort of behavior in office. Clinton's face was a stone mask and Leno looked right at him and said he had to get one last shot in.....

I was actually being sort of funny. Not in a grand haha kind of way but a little dry humor. But I guess next time I will put the smiles so people can tell.

The following summary of the book Dangerous Diplomacy: How the State Department Threatens America's Security , scares me

"It's ironic to think that one of the most subversive, anti-American forces in the war on terrorism is the institution that is the mastermind of much of America's foreign policy and strategy, the State Department. In Dangerous Diplomacy Joel Mowbray shows exactly how this is the case, revealing shocking information on State's shortsightedness, poor judgment, and resistance to change and how these shortcomings have compromised national security and American lives time and time again.
Using in-depth, comprehensive interviews with State Department personnel and looking closely at State's recent history and publications, Mowbray reveals: 1. State's Herculean efforts to cover up the lax visa policies that allowed the September 11 hijackers to enter the US legally-while keeping these policies in place as long as possible. 2. State's arms-for-tyrants program-and how it very nearly succeeded in providing Saddam Hussein's Iraq with nuclear capability 3. The State/Saudi alliance: Why State bends over backwards to keep the Saudis happy despite the kingdom's clear support for global terrorism 4. How American parents whose children have been kidnapped by foreign nationals have been ignored, deserted, and betrayed by the embassies and officials who are supposed to protect Americans 5. State's strange but long-standing fondness for brutal, radical Islamic regimes 6. How State's entrenched culture makes reform of the organization virtually impossible 7. How State concealed information about North Korea's nuclear program 8. The Iranian democracy movement: Why it soldiers on with no help from the State Department 9. The sorry record of how State not only has declined to discipline incompetent and corrupt immigration officials who let terrorists and other criminals into the US, but rewarded them 10. How State has actually fought against families victimized by evil regimes who are trying to recover damages

Mowbray documents a State Department in dire need of reform-revealing here for the first time just how far State has strayed from its intended role as the primary agent of US interests abroad."

As a student of history I remember what happened to the state department after China got the nuclear bomb, and how those lead to the Vietnam War along with years of tensions.

It is scary how history repeats itself and people still do not learn.

Yeah, the state department is a mess. It's party because Powell doesn't do anything about it but primaryily it's been a disater for a long while and it's only getting worse. State is still staffed with holdevers from various administrations and many of the senior people are Clinton appointees, and some go back as far as Bush I, Reagan, and Carter!

State needs overhauling. Gingrich started a whole thing about it a few months ago and everyone jumped down his throat.

                              Coulter on Clark

This is pretty funny. Take it with a grain of salt though, Coulter is extreme even for conservatives.

I love how the right is so afraid of this guy. They have gone to bashing him, and have tried to prop Dean up. Watch Fox News and see the difference in how they report Dean and Clark.

And Coulter is an idiot. Bosnia was a NATO war.
