Please consider these (despite the leftist origins of some of it):

(the bottom of the article points out quite a few things)

      On the concurrent pay thing.

They have recently passed that plan, but there are some huge qualifications for one to receive both retire pay and disability pay.

You could start applying 1 June and benefits started July 1st.

My father (30 year vet, 2 purple hearts, a silver star, , 100 percent disability etc..) applied 1 and have yet to hear anything from them.

If I am thinking correctly he should be near the top of the list with only 100% disabled CMH recipients ahead of him. So I have no idea why this is. Right now it looks like a sham, but I will give it a couple of months before I start righting my congressman and see what is up.

Than205, the alledged cutbacks never existed.

All the info from this article: http://www.nhgazette.com/shafting.html never happened, and is taken totally out of context.

The "roll-back" never happened. Troops get $150 imminent danger pay now, it was never AT $250 to get rolled back. The family sep. allowance is at $100, again, never was at $250 to get rolled back from.

The $6000 dollars survivors will receive, is the "immediate payment upon death" to help pay for a civilian funeral and burial. Families will, as of right now, receive a $200,000 insurance benefit from the Fed. Soldiers pay a monthly stipend to finance this life insurance (SGLI). So, the "modest proposal" of an additional $6000 ($12,000 total) isn't coming from the military, it would be paid for BY THE TROOPS THEMSELVES!

Reservist that "travel long distances" already can apply for mileage on their travel vouchers, and ANY PARENT in a combat zone ALREADY PAYS NO INCOME TAX.

The 1.5 million cut from military construction, was diverted into the war effort, and to required construction and maintenance on barracks and training areas. (we got some of it on my post). Raising taxes on the so-called rich, will do NOTHING for the military.

So, all this so called legislation you've been hearing about.....never happened.

Just so you know, the vast majority of Army/Navy/Air Force Times articles and columns are NOT written by military persons. They are civilian newpapers with civilian staffs. They print few things by active/retired/reserve soldiers/sailors/airmen.

That's all part of my plan :)
Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - Tyger

My father also has a simular situation. He and I have been following this concurrent reciepts issue for quite a long time. If there is any final passage of this we (my father and I) and DAV have seen no indication of this.
If you have any information at all, please PM me.
I'm eager to read anything you have.

                  Thanks.

All the reasons I would vote for Clark are reasons that noone should

                            a) The man is arrogant, I like arrogant people, at least as my leaders... it speaks of a charisma..

                            b) He takes nothing from noone (hehe grammar hates me) the Russian thing illustrates this (it also illustrates why is was bad)

                            c) When nearly forced to retire by the "up or out" thing, he forced a position for himself to go up - against beauacracy (sp) how cool is that

Anyways... let's say he does not run... lets look at 2008 (and assume with me for a moment that the democrats have accepted Bush will win this one - even if Im wrong) - is Cheney the running mate for Bush. In 08 you have to look for Hillary, in my opinion the only current Republican who stands a chance (I do not speak of who is qualified but who is electable) againt Hillary who would be eligible in 08 is Powell. Powell is even more center than Bush, has spoken towards the side the democrats seem to be taking on some major issues... I mean - Cheney can take a lot of blame for things that have gone wrong - ties to major companies, Enron, etc - bow out do to health care, leave Powell as a VP candidate in '04 (making it pretty hard to beat a Bush/Powell ticket) and set up a dream campaign (it would be awesome to see) for '08 - Powell vs Hillary. Think about the benefits for the Republicans, you have Sharpton out there screaming that the democrats need to show that they are more than lip service to the black community... just a thought, what does anyone else think
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not" - Dr Suess

                              Arrogance does not equal charisma....

I think Powell has a good chance of winning the Presidency at some point. He is likable to both sides. My wife, who dislikes Bush intensely (and is a Republican) really likes Powell.

I must admit that I'm a fan of him as well. He speaks well and I like his politics (he is more of a diplomat than Bush or Rumsfeldt.

I don't think Powell could stand to his past actions, especially his envolvement with May Lei, and other very controversal military issues.
