As for the no skating law let me explain a fairly interesting concept. The cops do not make the rules. They inforce the rules.
So with that in mind it is useless to complain to to try to talk them out of it. They are just doing their jobs.
If you want these rules to change then the next time a cop stops you ask them where in the code it says that skateboards are not allowed. If he cannot cite the exact location then technically you can continue using them.
If he does then stop using them, thank the police officer and walk away to your local library. Ask the libraryian if they have a copy of the law books for your county. They should. Research the law and organize a movement against it.
Speak at community board meetings. Ask the ruling body to revise the rules to allow skateboard transportation allowable but tricking and such on certain public areas illegal. Also ask the county or community to look into the feasibilty of creating a skatepark for the kids to use.
My point is this. At 15 or 16 or 18 or just about any teen we were more likely to go of and scream and cause a scene or do something that would pretty much guarantee that the adults wuold never listen to us.
What's funny, is that adults are more childlike then they would readily admit. Unless things are presented to us in a proper and acceptable format we often refuse to listen.
I wouldn't mind trying to help you get this under way. Send me an email. Let's chat.
Because I was so irritated about the spot light coming through my rearview I almost sliped and said "nothing, why? are you jealous of my light?" I betcha that warning woulda been a ticket...
