Sadly? Guess what? When the Constitution was framed the rifles of that time were state of the art. Didn't make everyone who owned one a murderous berserker.

On the contrary, the people who own fully automatic firearms LEGALLY are among the most heavily regulated people on this planet. And the most level headed bunch of people I have ever been around. They understand with clarity the power they have in their hands with those weapons.

Of course you liberals time and again fail to distinguish between law abiding citiziens with rights granted them by the Constitution, and criminals.

All you see is the word GUN and you go into full panic mode.

You don't want guns in your house? Fine with me. You not wanting me to have guns in mine?

I can accept that, it's wrong in this case but I can accept it.

he can't defend it, it'd mean the arrest of every living soul in New Jersey.

Oh, I'm all for it. But I don't think that flagrant racism should rule who is arrested and who isn't. You want to arrest all illegal aliens and deport them, fine with me. Go ahead, I could care less. But then loose the *I'm a little teapot, short and stout* about drivers licences and worker protection. You wanna get tough at INS get tough on everyone.

What I DO have a problem with is the arrest of CITIZENS (of which there are thousands of cases), with out any family notification or any charges against them. I have 4 friends, one of whom was taken and three of whom had their father or older brother taken by the FBI. They were returned after between 2 weeks and 3 months. No charges were filed against them and they were arrested for no reason other than that they were arab-americans. They are FULL american citizens and their constitutional rights were violated. You guys want to own large bore rifles and machine guns, fine, I trust that you won't go psyco on the population with them. I won't debate the legitimacy of owning guns. But on the flip side how can one scream and yell "ITS OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO OWN WEAPONS" and at the same times say that the 1st, 5th and 14th ammendments don't apply to "possible terrorists". These are American citizens. Rounding up because of political afiliation or race is a huge mistake. Ever heard of McCarthy? Or the internment camps? My family suffered under the US internment of Japanese citizens, and yet both of my grandfathers served this country and faught for the freedoms that all of us (in the US) enjoy. It didn't matter to the US government, Japanese Americans were evil and therefore should be inprisoned.

This is the same kind of witch hunt that is going on now. I lost a friend in the world trade center and I have close friends that lost parents in the world trade center attacks. I also have numerous other contacts that lost loved ones or close friends in the same attacks. It was a tragedy. Over three thousand INNOCENT american citizens died that day. We have instilled in our society that the evil arabs killed them and that all arabs are the same. It is the exact same fear as of communists or Japanese-americans.

Can't defend what? Arresting criminals? Please specify where I was against procecuting criminals. I ask that people be treated fairly and justly. Nothing more nothing less.

How about this? Is it a crime to lie about something and go to war about it? Its accepted as an american pastime (see entry into WWI, Vietnam and Iraq)

Hear that sound? That is the sound of inevitability. That is the sound of George W. Bush being re-elected.

Okay let me repeat this to you slowly: Democratic Governor Grey Davis authorized the driver's licenses for illegal aliens. He was recalled by the citizens of his state. THe new Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger then repealed that executive order.

Bush is negotiating with Mexico on the Guest Workers pass. I do not agree with that personally, but that is my opinion. Before 9/11 you could argue that US policy was prejudiced against Latinos, our focus shifted after 9/11. All of the illegals are still just as illegal, but resources were shifted, so I disagree with your description of our immegration policy as racist!

Proof on your friends please. Articles? No citizen should have been subjected to this and if it happened, it would have been all over the news. THe only arrests I recall hearing about were for material witness warrants which are court issued and legal.

As for WWII, Italians were also locked up on Ellis Island for a time. I agree that Internment was wrong and misguided. Since it was illegal, were there not settlements to the detained to make up for the discrimination. Yes I know money can not make it right, but that was the only remedy available.

This is the same kind of witch hunt that is going on now. I disagree. If that was the case, there would not be vehement enforcement of hate crimes against Arab-Americans. Besides if anything, it is anti-muslim sentiment, not anti-arab, not that it is any better.

I lost colleagues in the WTC. It is very maddening. Some people are channeling their anger in the wrong direction, but if they take it too far, they will be arrested and prosecuted as they should be!
