    first amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion

marriage...a law respecting an establishment of religion

    = contradiction.

marriage as a legal bonding shouldn't have come to fruition in the first place, since it blatantly violates the first amendment.

It is available to others for the simple fact they DO follow the accepted norms. You want your own rules because you don't like the ones already in the game? Fine, go start your own game. Marriage is and ALWAYS has been the union of a MAN and a WOMAN. It's been part of the Judeo-Christian culture since it's beginning. the fact that a certain part of the population doesn't like that is tough nuts for them. The fact that the homosexuals want the rules changed to suit THEIR wants is nonsense. It's also an attack on those same Judeo-Christian beliefs. you talk about tolerance or the lack of it on the right, where's the tolerance for thousands of years of culture by the left?????????

why should there be different rules for different people. Seperate is not equal, history tells us that.

it's not? says who? Again, you want the rules bent or modified to fit your particular wants, go make your own game up. Don't ask to change what a majority of people don't want changed.

why do it for homosexuals? cause if you don't it's discrimination plain and simple.

Ooohhhhhhh the D word. Horsecrap. He created marriage, who are you to change that?

What about bathrooms? What about living quarters for the military or in dorms? Again, I can list example after example where separate but equal does NOT have the negative connotations you are trying to link to the term. And that actually works rather well, for many reasons.

Yup--nothing wrong with mentioning one's own individual beliefs, in the context of one's own individual opinion. It's when one tries to subject others to their own personal beliefs that things get dicey.

and this is THE essential part of this. The J/C culture that exists in this country for the most part does NOT attempt to subject the homosexual culture to their mores.

In fact, it's exactly the other way round, the homosexual culture has repeatedly attempted to subvert the J/C culture to thier own ideas.

I agree. That is why I only mentioned it when specifically ASKED about why I feel the way I do personally.

And in general, since this issue crosses many religious and cultural lines (and the are all pretty much the SAME ironically ), and going back thousands of years, the mention of any particular religious belief is not even needed.

Gotcha--I missed a few of the intervening posts that established the context.

I brought it up largely because a few days ago Bill O'Reilly made the claim that marriage was a Judeo-Christian invention. Was quite a head-scratcher at the time.
