You may not like it but this is the way it is. Its an institution that goes back for thousands of years. Homosexual marriage does not fit into this institution. The vast majority of the world over believes its wrong. In other countries homosexuals are killed. It is wrong. I disagree with homo marriage. I disagree with these judges making laws from the benches.
so man and woman never ever got together and made families before religion was invented? wow...good thing god helped us out and told us to join up!

hey I don't think letting gay people married is cool, becuase it will make them more open. If you want to see what an openly gay society is go to Washington D.C. man there are gay people kissing all the time in the public and that's not cool. Sure hot lesbians are cool as long as they are bi. Haha gay people are paving the way for people who want to marry there animals too.

NO.....God created men and women. God created the institution of marriage. God didn't create religion. Men created religion. God was first. Men and women second. Marriage third. Religion last and still new ones are made everyday.

            <A HREF="http://www.glad.org/Publications/CivilRightProject/OP7-marriagevcu.shtml">civil unions v. marriages- what's the difference</A>

i suppose the key difference is that civil unions offer neither the federal protection nor benefits that marriage offers.

I'm gonna try really hard to make a single post in this thread... here goes...

                  Brass- Amen!

Personally, I have no problem with Homosexual people. I have a big problem with their actions, which, according to the religious and moral doctrine I choose to follow is, Yes, I'm gonna use the S-Word... a SIN.

Yes, I have friends who are gay, Yes, I have family members that are gay, and Yes, I still love them, but I don't condone, appreciate, or stand by their sexual behavior.

If Homosexual people are allowed to marry, what's going to stop bisexuals from marrying? if 2 people of the same sex can be married why can't 3? That'd be a heck of a tax break, if I could marry a woman and then tack on a third party... whoah! Or why not marry a gerbil for that matter?

Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman, while I'm not an expert by any means, I'm willing to state that I'm pretty sure that most cultures throughout history have had this institution in some form, most being very similar, if not identical to our own today. The religious aspect of it is a spiritual connection, the civil aspect is a legal standing. Even if you are not religious, there is still a moral code associated with being married.

When it comes time to vote, yeah, I'll be against gay marriage.

Impossible. I understand that you might think it has nothing to do with religion, but if you trace back through history you will see that it has everything to do with God. No one thought on their own do just decide to invent marriage. I'm not sure how you can deny that. Its a basic fact of life. Again, an institution that has been passed down over thousands of years. Notice that until recently all weddings were performed only by clergy. Why?...cause its a Godly institution. Performed in the sight of God.

I'm not trying to get the thread closed but it is a basic underlying fact of marriage.

Yet the legislators are elected BY THE MAJORITY!!

I can refute your allegations of corruption, because LEGAL FUND RAISING is not corruption. Are there corrupt public officials? Sure, just like there are corrupt cops.

You are wrong! They are unconstitutional and quite often get overturned. However the process is so slow as to make a mockery of it. And no, it does not always get weeded out. That is the problem. Look at Florida 2000. Their Supreme Court tried to write new election law. The US Supreme Court had to step in and stop it in an emergency appeal. Now look at San Francisco 2004. The mayor there is openly defying state law and Proposition 220 where 60% of the state voted for and approved a gay marriage ban. The courts there are dragging their feet. When all of those thousands of marriages are declared null and void, how did that help those people?

You are advocating governance by a few UNELECTED judges. That terrifies me. My vote means something to me!

as stated in the other thread about this...it has become a legal issue, not a moral or religious issue.

EVERYONE go read the linke i posted a few posts back! it'll help you understand why making gay marriage illegal is a big deal!

For me its a completely religious reason for not wanting it. I'm not sure what others base their reasons on. I know its wrong. Thats all.

even if we were to interpret the 19th amendment your way, it would still only give them the equal right to vote, as that is the only right the 19th amendment deals with, as quoted by you. Furthermore, any moron with half a brain who graduated high school would clearly know that the word "sex" here is referring to whethere male or female. This based on the fact that the whole point of the amdendment was to give the right to vote to women and african americans. Not to mention, at the time of the amendment, giving these rights to homosexuals probably would NEVER have even been considered.

As far as the judges making up laws and pretending they are the final say in the legislative process, the Consitiution never gave the courts this right, the Supreme Court awarded this power to themselves in 1803, in the case of Marbury vs. Madison.
Marbury v. Madison, case decided in 1803 by the U.S. Supreme Court. William Marbury had been commissioned justice of the peace in the District of Columbia by President John Adams in the “midnight appointments” at the very end of his administration.
