For one, this movie portrays jews very poorly, like a mafia or something. This move is also very inacurate. From what I have heard this movie goes way beyond the new testament, to what some people, probably Mel, thought happened. These inacuraces do not help any body. While you might leave the movie being proud of being christian, other people, especially impressionable children, may leave with a hatred for jews. In my view if just one in 1000 people leave that theatre with hate, then the movie was bad. Mel cannot make a "historical" movie and leave what he wants and take out what he does not want.
Maybe you should see it before you judge it!

BTW, It is rated R. Impressionable children should not be allowed to see it anyway!!!!!!!!

And that is certainly true. Remember you are watching torture and execution of a person here. Young kids do not need to see that. Thier time and place will come to see it.

In all honesty, why shouldn't young children be allowed to see it? If their faith follows their teachings they should be allowed to witness what their savior did, and what he endured for them. Could be used as a way for people to strengthen their young questionable minds by visually seeing what they've only thought or read about.

For one thing its a movie with actors and special effects... not "their Christ" being crusified. And they will be tramatized by the visuality of it at young ages. Sorry but you don't have kids do you? There are stories of Sexual Trysts and Homosexual activities in the Bible too. Make a graphic movie of them and take your Little five year old kid to it and show it to them? I don't think so. That a very unthought out argument you put forth.

Thier time to see it graphicaly displayed and portrayed will come. Wait until they can comprehend and understand it. Otherwise you risk horrifying them and turning them off to it completely. Totaly counter to your intentions. Kids just are not ready for that "method" of teaching Christianity as certain ages. Parents will know when they are. Most are going to be at least in the thier Teens before they are though I bet.

I agree with you cphilip, kids should not be allowed to see this movie until they are older. If parents want their kids to see this then they have to sit down with them before and after the movie and talk about what the movie is about. The reason it is rated R is because it is not meant for kids, it is meant for adults who can comprehend what is going on.

Also, I would like to ask people to try and keep the side tracking to a minimum. I started this thread with the intent of having an intelligent discussion about the movie. If you have something stupid to say about it then start a separate thread where that is the purpose of it. So, please people, try and keep this going and keep it on a mature and intelligent level. Thanks.

you haven't seen it yet you have a lot of problems with it.

go see it. then decide whether or not you have problems with it, use your OWN judgement for once.
