LIVE from the RNC in NYC

Well more or less live, I'm in my hotel room enjoying the broadband courtesy of the Wayne County Conservative Commitee's largesse.

    WOOT!

So far it's been absolutely amazing, best convention I've been to yet.

There have been so many highlights it's hard to say which is the top one or two, but hearing AHHHHHNOLD and Zell MIller speak were tremendous thrills.

Security is nearly oppressive. But I think they're doing an excellent job so far. They quickly hustled out an idiot last night during the VP's speech with little fuss.

The left is certainly blessed with a huge number of whackos. They're so much fun to watch it's hard to not give them an earful back.

ProtestWarrior made a HUGE splash here this year protesting the protestors. Great fun watching them enjoy themselves, while watching the anti-Bush protestors lose their minds.

I mean how dare they protest US?

Zell Miller was probably the best speech I have ever seen since Ronaldus Magnus' Shining City on a Hill speech all those years ago but for different reasons.

Here was a guy from the Democratic party who ripped Kerry and the partisan liberals up one side and down the other with his speech. It was an old fashioned speech from the days of politics when you could speak your mind without someone screaming HATE SPEECH HATE SPEECH!

Of course the NY papers headline for the most part screamed exactly that. Typical.

Unfortunately they wouldn't allow my camera inside due to security concerns. Ah well price you pay I guess.

Waiting on the Presidents speech tonight.

The celeb list I've been able to meet is amazing:

    Zell Miller
    Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes
    Rudy Guliani
    Dan Brokaw
    Jack Kemp
    Bill Frist
George Pataki although I've met him before
    Lynn Cheney
Ann Coulter omfg what a babe.
and a few others I can't remember atm but I'll try.

Overall it's been a hell of a week, the partying that goes on around here is insane. I don't think I've gotten more than an hour or two of sleep each night. Probably sleep all weekend.

Hope you had fun. I was just in the city money bumming around a little.

I wish i had bothered to come in tonight to see Pataki. He was AWESOME.
Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - Tyger

      Lucky you!

I keep getting glued to the TV for some reason - Dem or Rep, this is the best convention I've ever seen.

The only bad part was the twins - they completely sucked.

Look, I'm glad you had a good time. I'm glad your safe as well, I heard some of those protests were getting otu of hand... those anarchists DO NOT represent the normal Democrat.

I want an honest and non-anger or satire filled answer for this. What did Pres. Bush just tell us tonight? not a damn new thing. All of the "new ideas" he spoke of were championed by Kerry long ago.

Also, just to show you, Channel 2 news just had a little clip about protest warrior. apparently they were denied the right to protest with the other protesters... they were kept out... HA!

Also, all this stuff about FLIP FLOP??? isn't bush the one who just said, we can't "WIN" the war... and then changed his mind the next night when he realized what he said on the today show?? say it with me... HY-PO-CRIT!

Actually, he did say new stuff (from his mouth) on domestic policy which the Dems have condemned as being too late in the campaign.

Protest Warriors were kept out? That's a travesty. They have as much right to protest as the anarchists.

Flip-flop? I don't know what you're talking about, can you provide documentation? I don't disbelieve you, I just don't know what you're talking about.

No prob Cue... i'll do my best to prove my points....

I agree that what he said regarding domestic stuff was new for him, but my major point was that most of these new choices for the next four years were championed my John kerry earlier in the campaign. Specifically Private social security accounts.

I ALSO agree that if the protest warriors want to protest the protesters, (wait... yeah that's correct)... they have every right to do so. I think they denied them from the protest area due to the possibility of violence on both sides....

As far as flip flop goes, I was specifically referring to president bush saying on the Today show on tuesday said that we cant' win the war but make the world an uncomfortable place for terrorists to live.

I think that it is then hypocritical of his prty to call John kerry a flip flop person.

the truth is that in his entire tenyear (sp?) as a senator, John kerry voted FOR 16 out of 19 pentagon bills proposed during that time.

Also, Some of the things Zell Miller said last night were very hyporitical. Specifically, EVERY single one of the armaments he said kerry voted against, (f-14D, Apache, B-1, B-2) Dick Cheney terminated the actual progams while he was in office... EVERY SINGLE ONE... by condeming Kerry they Condemed themselves... but you won't see that on fox news or on the rush libaugh show....

If you had a senate appropriations bill in front of you that was like 87 billion and only 1/3 of 1% (That's 0.3%) went to armor and over 90% were "pork barrel projects", would you vote for or against it? this is what kerry voted against and what the Bush campaign is using to smear him. Hypocritical to the max.

These are the truths that the republican party don't want the normal american to hear.

Everything I said here is documented fact... I have not blemished or exxagerated on anything... the limbaugh and fox news quip were my opinion... everything else is fact.

            Thanks for reading

Violence from both sides? If you watch the Protest Warrior vids, they get yelled at, harassed, their signs ripped from their hands, and hit/pushed/jostled, and make no move to attack back. I can't see any "violence" coming from the Protest Warrior camp.

yea ive managed to watch the PW vids. All i see is a bunch of young stuck up people going into other peoples anti-war rallies and instigating a fight. Im not advocating the response that the protestors made but its blatantly obvious those people, PW, went with malicious intentions.

Regretably I was not able to watch any of the Rnc, as I have been moving back and forth between college. I really wanted to see McCain and Shwarzzeneger speak.

                oh well

It's wierd protesting protesters... But more paower to them...

What happened when the protesters tried to enter into the RNC... the two girls i think.... they got arrested because security didn't want a fight breaking out... What they did to PW is the same(in essence... for safety's sake). You don't have to get angry Thordic, i agree with the rights of PW to protest. Let's try and keep this civil and focus on the points I made about The tactic the Bush campaign uses is hypocritical. Any responses to that?

You dont find it alittle rude to protest durring someones speech? Hell, they let them in the hall, you start to disrupt, wether your a deligate or not your going to get the boot.

Where were the protesters durring the DNC? Oh, thats right, locked up in cages across town durring thier convention.

You are giong to need to add some documentation here. There are a number of reasons funding gets cancelled especially when new bills are perposed. If you aer going to put items like this in your post you need to completly explain them. Cheney has worked for FOUR presidents.

No matter the issue, I think the most disapointing issue that has arised is Kerry pitting vet aganist vet.

That seems like an unfair comment. I would agree it is disapointing vets are bickering. However I dont think you can blame it on Kerry. ALthough all these vets bickering just goes to show how a wide gap has been placed between the two sides. Causing one side to hate the other. That holds true in this instrance with the verterans.

I sorta agree, however i am sure kerry was well aware of what others thought of his military past. To be honest I have no clue what to make of it and really see how something 35 years ago has to do with anything. I do think the new news coming out about his visits to paris and his invovlment in this extreme group are going to hurt him BAD, if the media DECIDES its news worthy.

Oh they were there. I know because a good friend of mine was stuck guarding the door when the protesters were in her face. Most of them had, as she put it, inappropriate and highly graphic signs talking about stem cell research and what it "supposedly" does. I do agree that it is rude to interupt a person's speech. Not everyone thinks the same way as we do though.

The whole vets against Kerry thing isn't Kerry's fault. He served and spoke out against what he didn't think was necessary. During that period there were lots of anti war protests. He chose to speak out against the war. No harm done really. Just shows the hostility between the two parties.

Q- I know what zilla is talking about. I seen it on the Today show, and the next day he rephrased it, to try and fix what was said.

I did manage to miss every day of the convention as I had things going on and unfortunatly didn't know the time/channel (I have only basic antenna tv)to watch. I kinda figured it would be a bunch of negative things about the other candidate and pretty much everything else but I still wish I would of seen it.

I still dont see it not only did he testify but he also wrote a book about. the great irony is that he didnt see that type of crime while in vietnam. So what excatly was he testifing to? Stuff he had seen on tv?

I think this will be a moot point if word gets out of his "other" anti-war activites come to light.

Regarding the protester's, the quote you used from me was about talking about the imaginary flip flops of Kerry not about the protesters that got inside the RNC. I agree they deserved to be booted out on their butts.

I am currently at my Fiance's. she has dial-up and it's on a laptop. I will get the links for you when I get home tonight, gtrsi, regardeing the documentation part of your quote.
