Sorry, I was not saying you were changing anything. When I first saw this story online, the author was speaking of the Islamic youths involved. Later when I again saw the story online, they completely removed the references that these were Islamic youths running amok. The author took the same approach the Frenchies did, LOL.

Having them migrate to their country is one thing. But they should not make special allowances for any group. They make special pro-Islam allowances for them but recently the EU just had a measure to change words like "Christ" to "christ", but only for Christian type religions and references. Did they change "Mohammad" to "mohammad"? Nope. The EU just seems to be favoring one religion while turning its back to another.


Nothing wrong with democracy, but they should not set themselves up for failure by patronizing a minority until it becomes the ruling majority.

The weird thing is that France seems to be less guilty of this then other European powers. Do you remember when they out lawed the wearing of veils in public schools. In the case of France I still think the problem is more one of mismanagement than of giving to many liberties to their Moslem minority.
Case in point I heard an interesting story the other night about the riots. In it they stated that the French have a law witch forbids the recognition of any ethnic group in France as any thing but French. The law was originally intended to ensure equal treatment to all French citizens regardless of their race. However what it has done is eliminate all official channels through witch a minority group can seek redress for discrimination. Talk about lack of forethought.
At the same time you have figures like French interior minister Nicolas Sarkozy calling the people who live in the neighborhoods in witch the rioters come from "scum" and "rabble". To me these riots seem reminiscent to the 1991 L.A. riots there are even similarities in the tension between the police and the community.

Add Islamic fundementelism into the mix and what you have is one hell of a powder keg.

According to various news agency's thanks to last nights riots, France just upped their current threat alert from run to hide. Many people are starting to get nervous since the only remaining levels are surrender and collaborate.

The article in the NYTimes makes it sound like there's going to be an all out war across the classes very soon. Firebomb factories, organization through the internet, etc.

So is this just mass hysteria, a billowing of rage, both?

So you're saying that there was only ONE attempt because we caught them?? Are you serious? As if you know for fact that there was no other terrorist magotts that did make it across.

Unfortunately I do not share your optimism. You see, the very heart of the US is its free and open society. Its what we Americans consider the BEST of America compared to other places in the world. It is this freedom that the terrorist is using against us, and they HAVE been coming across from BOTH sides. Believe me, that one group of scumbags that were caught just before the 2000 celebration was just part of the problem that we will have to deal with.

Its just simple math. Thousands of miles of open border + a token border patrol + determined extremists(world wide) = a big problem. Thinking that we caught THE only one's is just denial.
