          I expect to see pilot salaries to drop in the next ten years as airlines are forced to be profitable and competetive. That being said I don't see the average dropping much below 100, and you can generally live in markets where 100K is pretty good money. Im curious as to what Southwest Airlines, or another profitable airlines, average salary is.

              I will add my 2 cents as other have, however keep in mind that I am begining to celebrate the new year. Also, keep in mind that my undergradute is in environmental science or blow me off as some tool on the 'net, I really dont care. (Party tomorrow at GT's house, Recon are you back in Houston yet?)

              African hunts do a few wonderfull things:
              1. Provide sustanece to the locals. The locals, in some cases, dont hunt these animals becuase of their expense. The hunter cannot take these back to thier country because of customs, therefore the food portion of the animals go to the local tribes.

              2. Thier is a huge influx of monies from forgien hunters. Keep in mind that these trips are 10k on the cheap, with taxademery and tags it is not uncommon for the local economy to recieve 15-25k from ONE hunter. Considering people in these countries can expect an average monthyl wage of like 10 bucks, this is big money.

              3. Endangered Speices, a litany of these hunts do not allow hunters to take any anmial they want. Usually they only allow hunters to take the older aggressive animals. Why? Some of these beast only predatitor is man and when allowed unchecked they are a detriment to the herd. Ex, you are trying to put it to your new girl friend on the couch and her grandfather is watching you like a hawk. FYI, you aint gettin laid tonight unless a hunter blasts that old man!

              4. The money used for these hunts goes right back into conservation. Think of it this way, you can have 50 hunters come to your province and blast away at a few animals or you can have pochers round animals up by the thousands. Without local law enforcement and game wardens pochers run amuck, money from the "whaite-hunter" fixes this problem.

              My thoughts on the video;
              there is no dam way that his tool got that close to those animals without them being signifgantly wounded. Cape buffalo, just waliking through the habitit, destroy the landscape. When they are pissed they can easliy topple the largest trees. This guy was applying the final touch to an already dieing animal.

              Personal thoughts on hunting:
              We cannont kill enough deer in Tx. They dam near run this state, although the biggest killer of White Tail is fire ants. There is hunting and then there is poching. Hunting is a win win sistution, poching is straight up rape, any hunter will tell you that.
              I would love to get back into hunting, however, the price is keeping me away. My father is a hunter. Rifle, muzzle loader (black powder), and bow. He gets most of his deer via the bow. There are a number of stories on the net about bow hunting in africa, those guys are truly insane.

                  I don't know the first thing about Cape Buffalo, other than I don't want to be too close to them! But I have seen some monstrous Water Buffalo and have seen what they can do to a Hummer

                        I suppose I'm too stupid to know that if these animals were allowed to be hunted, they would soon over-populate their ecosystems, and venture into areas NOT controlled, resulting in their being poached for their horn or organs, leaving the carcass to rot, This helps no-one.

                        I suppose I'm too stupid to understand that the PH farms are the ONLY way the wild herds of Elephants have been returning to pre 1900 era populations.

                        it still seems a little rediculous to just blast a hippo at point blank range like that. but i would like to know what the caliber of that gun was.

                          Did you read the thread at all before you posted in it? The idea that he just "walks up and blasts a hippo" has been addressed on every single page so far. Its a double barrel, likely by Rigby, I would guess in 460 or so - though there are some much bigger than that too. The 458 Winchester Mag propels a 500 grain projectile at close to 2000FPS to give you an idea of how much power those things have.
