not me, my liver is just fine. so are the brain cells, actually I think I get better as life experience gives me wisdom. alcohol have been around forever and a day. maybe my genetics have gotten around them. except for the sleeping part, drinking just makes me sleepy

Alchohol does long term damage to the liver, don't fool yourself

as lohman said, yes it does do damage to your liver, your genetics are no better or worse than the rest of ours, you have not evolved to accomodate the negative effects of alcohol. when brain cells die, you don't notice, and im sure that you are learning more as life goes on than you can destroy which does make you increasingly wise as you grow, but without alcohol (or any other drug, because im pretty sure they all kill brain cells), you would have more living brain cells to learn with and you might be even wiser than you are today.

are there any published studies on the number of brain cells killed by alcohol compared to other substances? there would be some shocking results to that test, im sure.

Wait, aren't you the guy who insisted that drugs affect everyone differently? Now you're taking the position that physiological effects of substances really don't vary from person to person?

Aren't there quite a few studies that show a glass of red wine at dinner or other such drink can be pretty beneficial to your health? I remeber seeing studies like that presented on the news at least on 2 separate occasions.

I come from an italian family, and both of my grandparents lived to about 90 and they had some wine every day for the entirety of their lives.

Red wine is heart healthy, but no more than grape juice. It is because grapes have antioxidants. Also, your grandparents were not abusing the alcohol from how that sounded. Alcohol replaces oxygen in your blood, effectively starving your brain and other body parts of oxygen. The effects are negligible with small amounts like what you are talking about, assuming they were in decent health.

Someone was talking about how harder drugs effect the brain. To my knowledge, they do not actually kill brain cells to get an effect. They alter brain chemistry by mimicking, blocking, or blocking the reuptake of neurotransmitters in the hippocampus and probably in the hippothalamus, as well as other structures of the brain. These drugs can permanently alter the functionality of brain structures. I forget what other structures typically see profound effect, as I have not had psych in a good long while. This permanent alteration of how the brain works can be far more detrimental than the effects of alcohol. This is why alcohol is legal, and harder drugs are not.

my family is different, we have problems with lungs and bones and not liver. its not that my genetics is better or worse than yours, just different. maybe you can smoke a lot of weed that I on the other hand would go into convulsion.

a good sniff of the exhaust from your car probably kills more brain cells than alcohol. dont think that you can keep those things forever, you loose them one way or the other. I believe in your early 20's they start to die but hey you got a few billions of those anyways

you have to have at least one vise, you just cannot live through life without one and its probably unhealthy
