If you were going to order one from Ledex,.. the one you could use thats the closest match is under the Low Profile Solenoids names "1EC"

The next hurdle you would have to get over is the plunger being too long.
While I would think you could cut it off,.. remember that these are electro-magnetic. So cutting them off shorter could have some effect on the force or pulse length that they work with inside the core. I dont know that for sure, but I was directed by Magnet-Shultz to not shave material off mine.

If you can get by that,.. then the next hurdle is the wire leads. You want them to be made of spun copper or the like,... DONT GET SOLID WIRES!!! Really difficult to work with if your not soldering to a PCB directly. Mine come with a plug,.. and I have the crimpers to make the wire harness too!

I tried the big supply houses for the 1EC and tried to find another distributor through ledex, but I couldn't find single quantities, just lot orders from the factory. I wouldn't mess with any factory design on a solenoid, especially when we're trying to run them at their design limits. Just mounting them on magnetic material can change their performance.

Those must be some tiny crimpers you have.

I could kludge something together that works, but having a package that fits in a pretty frame is worth paying for.

They are 1.5 mm crimpers. I have 2 pairs for making different ends.

One set makes the conponent sides,... the other makes a "female plug" that mates to the component in the case where you would use a wire harness.

They work,.. just not as they come with a standard hyperframe or devilmag.

You have to cut the rod down to size or mill the frame out more.

And the power shot solenoid comes with solid copper wires. I dont know if you've ever tried soldering to them before,.. but its a HORRIBLE experience. Ive done it once,.. and it wasnt worth it IMHO.

yeah soldiering solid wires takes some practice, its usually alot easier to twist the wires together and then soldier them so that you dont need three hands to accomplish the task

I bought a soldering station that holds all my wires in place to free my hands.

The problem is the solenoid itself. Its really hard to get a good bind between the wire and the lead from the solenoid. I dunno,.. maybe its just me.

                  That's sweet p8nt!

Try flux core wire or get a can of flux and dip the wire ends in it
Are you using silver or lead/tin solder?

better to go look on another thread

P8nt has started another thread with his project as the subject, that's a better source of info on Devil mag designs, so go check it out here: http://automags.org/forums/showthrea...84#post2593484

Here is my Dealer Thread for all the parts you will need for doing a conversion.

P8nt's DIY Electronic Parts & Upgrades Tread

You will need (at least) the following items:

                              (1) UTB Kit = $50.00
                              (1) Hyperframe Solenoid = $50.00
