mag barrels are like that too cause theres the hole and the groves and the nubin slots.... what does this have to do with anything though... did i miss something.... plz dont tell me tom wants M98 threads on it!

Don't worry man.They are gonna have cocker threads. At least the ones did that tom had at the last AO meet did from what i hear. I wouldn't buy one if they came out with m98 threads that's for sure.

not to sound negative or anhitng but does anyne have ANY ideas here? becuase this thread took off but now has slowed down and come to a hault. so at this point we can say we have no body design but we do have cocker threads .

i want more designs too. So the slug is like the minimag body in that it has a shroud in the front. Ahhhhhh...... rom for more creative designs...

Ok,

I have run this over in my head a bunch of times and actualy went out and started milling on a piece of round stock.

my problem with the idea of using a turned(cut on a lathe) design is that you no longer have a round part once it has been milled to mate to the body rail, so it will at least take time to indicate each body in before cutting. and also I belive that the designs would be very limited.

the problem with milling the body is trying to follow the diamater
3 axis would be a lot of setup time and a lot of time on the machine to make a decent finished part
= a lot of money
4+ axis would make life easier but still setup time and the cost of the equiptment (not saying that 3 axis machines are cheap).

now on to a possible idea

how about a very basic turned form IE original mag body polished and then masked and glass beaded to give it a design, be it the agd logo or flames and then anodized over? down and dirty low cost cool

wdp did this on some of their angels and I have made some emag grips like this.

That's not really that bad of design. Nice simple lines (well i thought Shartley's was simple and it really wasn't so who knows) Maybe just extend that back a little farther to cover the valve and the front a little more and it should look good.

ok, i think that all these alu circle bodies are nasty and would never buy one. I do like shartley's (sp? sorry) but i think the plain SS tube body looks Alot nicer.

I really think that if Ptp can put out a nice looking alu body then agd should too. No matter the money, if its ugly then they are gunna loose money so in the long run they are doing the right thing asking us about it but we don't have all that much to work with.

i do very understand why their are limits with the leaths bc my dad owns his own Co. and uses them.


i serously think that either we go back to the old "supermag" (angel body) looking or make a new run of x-mag bodies Just for Rts.


and if i dont see a nice lookin body then i might go with ptp (thats no where near a thret im just saying..)

i like the idea of being able to mill an automag, but am i the only one who thinks this body is gonna make automags look like a mix breeded mut? with cocker barrels, angel feed tubes, and mag parts. AGD needs to come out and just be unique! make something new, somthing agd, not "MUTT/AGD"

I think most of us are missing the point of these bodies. Tom wants SIMPLE milling. Something that will be slightly better looking but more importantly, WILL GIVE YOU MORE CHOICES then the stainless steel tube.

The aluminum body will give you a larger barrel selection (com on guys, how often do you see the vertical feed mag barrel you want at your local pro-shop?), a choice as to what vertical feed tube you want, and you can have it milled and annoed the way YOU like it.

I think it's a step in the right direction whether I like the milling or not.
