i actually perform better on the field with my RT then with my impulse ... with my impulse i just waste paint and think im god on the field .. i usually get hit from just sticking out too long ... then when i use my RT i play alot tighter and the game seems to improve .. i love my RT and i play with it more then i play with my impulse ...

a mech toruney would be cool....but:

cheating: still gonna happen. probably some trying to get bounce or sweetspotting. and of course wiping, playing on etc. will ALWAYS happen.

as for size, there is no way that a mech only big national circut could happen. Sorry, just not going to. If its regional there you see many many more mech anyway. Untill this week, ive been playing agains mostly timmys with an STO cocker, and doing fine. So if its just local its more annoyance than anything.

competition creates cheating, not electronic guns. as long as those who run the big national series' dont mind the cheating, it will continue. i for one see a mech only tourny or series as a larger scale pump only series. fun with good competition but will never be on the scale as the psp, xball, etc. i know that there is more than one person on AO that wishes smart parts would get aids and die but they are the sad reality that this is no longer just a game. its also a business. who knows what will be left after the suit is done, but i have a hard time imagining that mechs will rule again.

Wouldnt that be great as compared to the litigious atmosphere we've all seen lately!!
Holy cow, I thought that today while driving around! If the top Mech. marker makers could get together on this it would be sweet. Teams that play for them already could be in it!

            I love the idea.

I also think there should be a woodsball tourney somewhere. I really miss woodsball and would love to play a tournament in the woods, where I really belong

I dont see the point of a mech only tournament it will take just as much skill to set up tactics on an airball field with mech as it would with electro. I also think its amazing how people make such a big deal out of the cheater high ROF boards. Seriously if someone throwing more paint at you really effects your game that much than u might wanna practice more. I can see the concern as a safety issue but as an advantage i just dont see it. I have played tournies with mech on my xmag and it really does not matter in the long run if you can snap shoot and know when to move.

But it does make a big difference. I can reliably run through a 10bps stream of paint. I CAN NOT make it through one at 20bps.

High rates of fire don't change how I play. But they do change where I can move to or from.

wanna really spice things up. Make turbo 9 legal. *grins*

The CRAZIEST moves are always in the pump games. Two weeks ago we played a stock class game at the local indoor. We ended up switching sides of the field twice! That won't happen with semis, but a reduction in rof makes a huge difference.

                    my pitch on this idea..

I totally agree. I hate to whine, but rec ball isnt even fun any more. I dont shoot an electro, and I usually only shoot 3/4 a case on a full days play. You get shot by a 12 year old pitching a tent in the back fanning the trigger blindly.

Simply put Im on a anti electro trip.

                    Small example

During one rec game, my mask came off when I dove and the rope holding the snake down removed it from my face(I immediatley planted my face in the ground and covered my eyes). Some kid(never seen him before) proceeded to light me up even though the ref said to stop.. What was he shooting? 13 balls a second..(ironically it was a new shocker that just came in via UPS that day... equipped with a 4500 max flo and halo...)

Im not certain but If this kid had to think about pulling the trigger he would have been able to think about stopping shooting..? Just a thought

I think this tactic of pitching a tent is reinforced by the home team though(field owners) Shooting dragon timmies vikings and ebladed stuff..

Cheaters cheat no matter what format you play in. All that changes is how the cheaters cheat. The only way you are going to reduce the cheating to a reasonable level is quality reffing and strict punisment for those who do cheat. Forfiture of a season dosnt sound like unreasonable punishment to me for shooting cheater guns. Takeing 2 or 3 players from the feild when someone gets caught wiping is a good thing. BUT these rules are useless if you cant catch the cheaters or are unwilling to enforce the punishments. Again it comes down to quality reffing and having technicaly savy judges on hand.

So far as hosing lots of paint... high end mechs can hose paint too.... no not 18-25 bps... but I have seen some wicked fast mech cockers and 9-14 is very atainable. Hell I have seen 9 done on a Tippy 98. Folks are going to hose paint.

I'm all for a mech only series or even just a few limited mech only events. The only reason you wont see me playing these is that I don't own a mech only gun. :)

I'd play in an event that disallowed electros partly because it'd also cull out a lot of players that I don't like. :)

just tell me when and where and I will be there if I have to tape markers to my pets so that I have enough team members... lol j/k on that last part.

I think right now the iron is hot for this type of game. I have seen a HUGE increase in pump play over the last 8 months. I have 11 pump players in the CNY area... so we ain't dead. Every month you can find at least of few posts, even here, about people buying a pump. Play has become too expensive but the urge to play still remains. Hence people have their matrix and a phantom or something so they can still play when broke.

Also there is an interesting demographic in the mech/pump scene. They all seem to be either old school players or broke 20somethings that no longer have mom's credit card to buy them two cases for rec.

So I think this would be a great thing to do and I think we should stop wacking about yeah.. what a great idea.. and actually get out there and do it! Plus don't limit yourself to just AGD, WGP, and Tippman. Kingman and Brass Eagle still make quite a few mechs and so does Action Markers and CCI.... so there is plenty of big names we can court to make this happen.
