Barfly, you could do something legal and it can be still be unethical/immature. I'm not saying I would challenge their actions and say what they did broke the rules, I'm saying that in my eyes how they acted makes them out to be less of an honorable player who uses the inherent respect some players show to their opponents to get an unfair advantage. Big difference between legal and honorable/ethical, and honorable/ethical is what earns respect.

Throwing a hissy fit isn't cheating either, but it still shows immaturity and has an effect on how much respect people may have for a person. And some people here are throwing hissy fits, but I will acknowledge you are talking intelligently about it which is cool, as are many of us. Discussing it in a forum like we are is the way for it to definitively become part of the rules on all fields or to be clearly acknowledged as ok.

well under different circumstances it could be called different things. If I was playing against my friends and I pulled a DMW off, they wouldn't call me unethical or immature, it's all in good fun. If another pro team pulled it off on dynasty well that might be a cheap and lame way to win, but they won. If I pulled it off on Dynasty, it would be cool as hell and I would revel in the glory of victory.

Yeah it is true you can do things that are unethical, but legal. Smart Parts is my example for sueing AKA and it is legal, yet unethical. PB is just a game to me, so I treat it like that, not very seriously.

tyger, I'm with you on this one.
DMW is just a strategy and there is nothing unethical about it.

is it unethical to move up the field? No

is it unethical to shoot the opposition out? No

if you're moving up the field and the opposition isn't shooting at you, should you be ethically inclined to draw attention to yourself because they aren't playing the game as well as you are?

is it unethical to outsmart your opponent?

what next? it will be unethical to eliminate the opposition because their egos my be hurt?
maybe we should stop shooting paintballs and start aggressive negotiations...

Most good DMW don't move up the field. They walk slowly towards their own dead box acting like they've been hit. When you get close and sprint for the flag, they spin and shoot.

Guys, no need to get mad or upset. Just deal with the facts of reality:

DMW is legal... This is understood.

Just be sure to expect a few mystery bonus balls in your direction... This should also be understood.

(baseball) If you crowd the plate for that extra advantage, you should expect a few high inside heaters coming your way...

                    Your choice.

Haha that is when you storm the mound and break the pitchers arm in 10 places with your bat .

                        baseball

Good baseball analogy, and if you charge the plate with the bat and, worse, use it, you will be out of the MLB for good or for a very long time with a record setting fine. Paintball doesn't do that, the longest suspension has been a year for Salm's crap I think.

I think you all missed what I said about the bonus balls-

If someone DMW's me, I'd applaud them for being able to do it. But because the DMW exists, anybody that I see who is not clearly identifying themselves as out is going to be played like they're still in. That means paint. A whole bunch of paint.

yes but with pistols becomming more available it is very easy to do a dmw now. Just walk down the field with your hands folded with a pt in your pocket, get behind everyone and slowly eliminate everyone.

Well I have heard of this but never actually seen anyone doing it. The truth is if someone tried this on me I would not over shoot them when they shot me, but every game when they are walking off the field i would give them a shot of 2 to make sure they arent doing it again.
