good idea, but I don't think it is going to stick. The rof can probably be increased over a short amount of time, but the size and recharge time of batteries are dependant on the battery industry rather than the paintball one. Unless there is a sudden demand for small, highpowered batteries, companies are not going to waste much money trying to make them.

Velocity is the speed the paintball is traveling...Originally posted by CKY_Alliancesomeone mentioned velocity...i doubt there is any since velocity is regulated by the amount of air flow(i think) and since theres no air no velocity which is the problem i was gonna state
and that is the shooting distants a batery can only power a bolt so fast therefore only shooting it so-far and this would not be as far as air.I doubt a batery can put as much force behind an object (bolt) as air can not a battery that size.then again i may be worng even so u still only get 600 shotsComment

I think this is pretty damn awesome. I'd try it. 250 bucks does seem a bit steep on the price, though.

Innovative. Ground breaking. Manike, whatever you and your crew were eating and drinking the day you conceived this, please let me know......because whatever it is, I want some.
A shift in the paradigm indeed. Kudos to the NPS R&D crew!/s/ Mel C. Maravilla

Finally something different! I have been getting sick of having guns that shoot 30 bps shoved down our throats. Look back on the history of paintball most all new inovations were recieved with mixed responses. This is just a starting point for people to improve on. VERY NICEFight or flight, I cant flyComment

well, its going to take awhile before it will be competitave with current technoloy, but it looks possible to make a good one...... someday :P
I'm guessing that they will be able to either put better batteries in it, or make it more battery efficient....yes, thats possible.
It had better run at a lower voltage then the battery, and be regulated down.....or velocity will consitently go down....unless it uses the battery to cock the gun.....hm......
well......if this is the future......airsmiths better start looking into it if they wanna keep their job, or better, get the knowledge from airsoft.

I'm getting one. I have a friend that will give me factory prices from NPS, cause I'm not going to spend $250 on one of those.

You know though a few more high profile CO2/HPA accidents and there could be a big push to bring this from being a novel new idea to being main stream. I think you will see it start with low end markers and work its way up... But I can see it happening. Maybe Paintball wont drive the battery industry specifcally but look at all the new types and changes in batteries recently it wasnt that long ago and NiMH batteries were fantasy...You can go a long way with a smile. You can go a lot farther with a smile and a gun.

Think about the day when fuel cells are common and high quality. You could put a fuel cell into something like this, which would be a lot smaller than a battery. That day doesn't seem all that far away, since they have done prototype cell phones with fuel cells. The idea has potential, IMOComment

all props to Manike but,
what's the big deal of adapting well-known piston and spring airsoft technology to pb?
The only reason it wasn't done before is because other folks looked at the limitations and said 'nah, not yet'.
Next we'll be seeing a 'red ryder' pump carbine with an overpressure relief valve in the air chamber so that you can't pump it up more then ten times for a shot...VENGEANCE PAINTBALL DISTRIBUTORS
