    THIS IS AWSOME!

The potential here is HUGE! Manike, I see the 250 dollar price point, what would it cost to use a smaller battery? Most hardcore guys spend 1k+ on a gun and another 2-400 on a tank. What could you do w/ and msrp of 1k?

How cool would it be to have an emag w/o a tank? Can you give us a pic of the internals or a somewaht stripped down pic?

    Muz' & other collectors,
buy this one now and keep it nib, welcome to the "paradigm shift"!

I think it looks great and could work out very nicely. Perfect for scenario players and just keep a few batteries on hand to swap out.

      Cool.

        Paintball industry in year 2005:

K2 leads the non-traditional distribution of paintball products and can get to the WalMarts and Dick's Sporting Goods of the world more effectively than most paintball companies.

NPS owns the traditional distribution of paintball products and can get their products to the paintball fields, shop and the internet.

        Paintball industry in year 2006:

NPS, because of innovative and cutting edge products, encroaches heavily onto the non-traditional distribution of paintball products and occupies a dominant position in the shelves of the WalMarts and Dick's Sporting Goods of the world. They also maintain their edge on the traditional distribution side.

K2 is mired down by existing lawsuits and is increasingly seen by the paintball community as the new bully boys in the block. Their goodwill in the market place diminishes and their sales suffers.

        Conclusion

While the other big boys in the industry are focusing on their legal battles, NPS eats their breakfast, lunch and dinner because they've focused in more on cutting edge technology and what eventually wins the battle for the hearts and minds of the players rather than getting caught in the litigious quagmire that paintball has become.

This new technology, as well as others that we may not see at this time, will propel NPS as the dominant force again. Kudos to the business and technical braintrust of the company.

Congratulations, JJ & Simon. I think you are on to a good thing, here.

          weeeeellll....

          hmm *scratch head*

This is more for beginner woodsball than speedball. I know a lot of people who average 100 or less balls/game in the woods. Some of the best players I know started out playing outlaw, with a 30-ball limit. They could easily have gone all day with this marker. I predict that 5-6 years down the road we are going to have some very good players whose first marker was this one.

I think the idea makes good business sense but the price tag for that group might be a bit high... What marker now at walmart costs 250...

I don't know US prices, but would the fact that you don't have to buy a tank make up much of that difference? Figure a 12oz tank, which is what would be needed to match the shot-potential of the battery pack.

            Manike,
Do you know what kind of batteries it uses? Willing to share? I'm just curious. It would seem that there is potential for the lithium ion polymer, but the cost would be high.

Hmm...Simon said something that I hadn't thought about, but makes WAY too much sense. If this is the type of thing you can put in the hands of backyard ballers the safety problems will go down. No tank is only part of it, but the fact that it will not shoot more than 300fps is HUGE.

Now, we just need to make it linked to a pair of goggles so that if they are not on your face, the gun will not shoot and make it if you are shooting at someone not wearing goggles it will not shoot.

Ok, that might be a little much, but think of the safety then.

BTW: Wasn't the Shot Show this past weekend?

Heck, I'd buy one. Just make sure us southpaws can use it too.

As for the gun, for a first production model, yea its kind of ugly, but I'm sure they will improve on the design in the years to come.
I was just thinking this! I was sitting here after reading the PBNation replies thinking how startling the difference between educated posting and posting is. AO is good for you.

The Big Boss (Gino) is a Southpaw so it's something I have to take into account. :)

Muz, one step at a time, but we are getting there. Every journey starts with small steps. The shot show is on right now. It finishes tomorrow.

Hitech it uses 15 'Sub C' cells. We are looking into a lot of battery technologies. As you point out some are better than others but there is a cost implication. We may well have higher cost but superior performance packs available. We are trying to maintain forward compatability for things like that.

Rogue, I know it wasn't you. But it made me smile considering how close we were to releasing this. And someone accused us in the industry of not working on improving safety, when it's actually a big driving force. We have more safety oriented items coming, and we will always be working to innovate to maintain the utmost safety levels. Initially we've been working to where the largest concerns are. We have safer Co2 valves and will soon have safer low end guns. More to come...

                      Hitech: IIRC its a 8.4v 3300mAH Sub-C NiMH pack.

Hrm...I have a 9.6v 1300mAH NiCD pack I just soldered up laying around...

if you could get like 2000 round effiency, even if the battery costs $100 id be willing to do that.

An hour and a half is too slow?

We have had discussions on a 15minute charger... but you are dumping a lot of current into the pack when you do that. I'll speak to the EE when I get back to the USA.

If they are NiMH then rapid charge is not good for the pack.
