Actually, I think they need to be careful how gun-like they make these. If someone gets whacked by a cop while playing around with one of these, NPS is going to get slapped with a major lawsuit. I know the scenario market likes a gun-like marker, but even Manike stated that this is made for the entry market, i.e. younger kids, so why try so hard to make it look like a Beretta CX4 Storm, which it was obviously modeled after? -
Well, it doesn't look any more real than that 1911 water pistol you can buy at Toys R Us. I would really hope that a kid would not point it at a cop and I hope the cop would not shoot a 10 year old kid carrying something that looks like a CX4.
I mean look at the AirSoft industry. There is not a gun made for AirSoft that does not look EXACTLY like a real gun.

I look at the guns at the toy store, and I really don't see anything that looks realistic anymore. I like cool-looking guns too, but you need to look at this from the other end. Someone points this thing at a police officer, they very well might be whacked. Police have about a second to make life or death decisions. As cool as the air-soft is, the same problem exists there. You would not believe the number of law-enforcment advisories that go out regarding airsoft guns. Think of it this way: Someone is pointing something that looks a hell of a lot like a CX4 at you or someone else. Do you wait to see if it shoots a bullet or paintball?Originally posted by MuzikmanWell, it doesn't look any more real than that 1911 water pistol you can buy at Toys R Us. Also note that Manike stated that " There are more players playing in their own back yards, than there are at events." So, the target audience seems to be, in part, the people who could possibly be playing in a residential setting. Now, scenario guys can get away with carrying hardware that looks like the real deal because they are playing in designated areas. Kids (or adults) playing bandit or backyard ball arent in a place where one would necessarily expect to see this kind of hardware.
I'm not making negative comments about the concept. Heck, I love innovation. I think there just needs to be some concern about the design of the gun versus its intended use. Would it hurt to make it a little less militaristic looking, and even if it did hurt a little, is it worth the reduced chances of a tragic incident, and the resulting lawsuits?
Just food for though.Comment

BTW, there have been several close-calls where police officers have almost shot people running around residential areas with airsoft guns. I don't think that lucky streak is going to last forever.Comment

Actually it wasn't. :) Amazing co-incidence, but I had never seen that gun until someone posted it over on PBN. I did take a look at lots of similar things though before going for a design I could work around the components.Originally posted by Steelratso why try so hard to make it look like a Beretta CX4 Storm, which it was obviously modeled after?
I had P90's (love that gun), and Steyr Augs and some video game guns in the back of my mind when I started it.Comment

True, and there has also been cases where people have been shot for pointing walking sticks and umbrellas at the police. I also believe there have been instances involving conventional paintball markers. All real guns are starting to look more and more like plastic toys...Originally posted by SteelratBTW, there have been several close-calls where police officers have almost shot people running around residential areas with airsoft guns. Don't forget this thing 'should' still have a hopper on top of it initially.
But you do make good points. And I'll think about them.Comment

All they have to do is make the gun look like a p90 and they will sell them in droves!!! because most people think a p90 is not a real gun but a prop used in stargate sg1.
so as for the cops and pb guns. real firearms look a lot like toys so people would get hurt. the only thing they could do is give the guns bright colors and police training in new toys guns. most cops that are single don't know about certain toy guns while there family oriented fathers know what kids are intoBACK IN THE GAME.

Sounds cheaper to me than buying a freezer/sauna device that could fit a 6'5" Brit with a gun.....lol.Originally posted by manikeI am just trying to justify a trip to Alaska and then Vegas

I think the more you can make it look like that berretta carbine the cooler it will lookPeter: "Lois go get the medical dictionary and look up fork and lung." Lois: "Why?" Peter: "Times'a factor." Gotta love family guy!
