    Quel dommage.
If Hybrid was using images from George Lucas/Star Wars with Stormtrooper and Palpatine grips would this current argument be any different, or say Disney?

My point is most know Lucas has bloodthirsty lawyers that will shut down the smallest of operations for using his material. In doing so would everyone then assume Hybrid took the images knowingly against someones IP.

Or is Hitman and Bruce Lee small scale pop culture enough, people believe Hybrid didn't know they have protection still as IP?

I think thats what some are trying to argue. Also, maybe, that Hybrid is itself small enough that I.P. law "doesn't apply."

That, however, is exactly where I disagree.
God....I guess I was probably returning videotapes.

        Slade,
I apologize for taking so long to come back and personally point out your mistake about my metaphor regarding the rapist:
What if the woman on the street was an exhibitionist who liked the rough stuff??? What if the 'rapist' had written permission from the lady??

I STILL CALL THE COPS!!! THEY CAN EXPLAIN IT TO THE COPS!!!

HYBRID CAN EXPLAIN IT TO IOI AND THE COPS!!! Maybe they had permission, if so then no harm done, get it???

        Does that 'work' ok?

Attempting to apply some ridiculous elementary-schoolyard ideas of 'justice'(according to you), in the grown-up world of laws and business makes you look naive at best.
It looks to my untrained eye like they simply scanned the front of the game box into a scanner and put it on the grips(I have personally seen the grips and the game), it was only a matter of time.
Trying to rag on SBF because he's a law abiding citizen, implies that you're not or worse yet, are but wish you weren't.

If hybrid had done what any business should do, then SBF wouldn't have done anything except waste his time and we wouldn't have to hear all this Kakistocratic claptrap!

I would be mad at you for insulting me, but i realize ive pretty much done the same .

There isnt anything WRONG with contacting IOI first, but what i was arguing is there wouldnt have been anything wrong with contacting Hybrid first either; of course, if someone is raping a girl in the street, it would be rather stupid and in poor judgement to walk up to him and say "umm, sir? im pretty sure thats illegal." The analogy does not hold up in that respect. Sorry if i sounded like it was a personal attack.

my real issue, as i have said repeatedly, was that it looked to me like SBF stepped in not because of a sense of morality, but to stir up things and then post online about what he did. I should really just drop this argument, but it doesnt look like thats really happening :P.

So I guess my question. If Slarty did this and never said a word to anyone online, would he still be "wrong"?

In my eyes, Slarty did the right thing. It doesn't matter if he "bragged" about it online or not.

I guess I realized what's been bothering me the whole time, It's that I'm sitting in moral judgement by criticizing Slade, for sitting in moral judgement of SBF by slamming SBF for sitting in moral judgement of hybrid.
What we need now is someone to sit in judgement of me for sitting in judgement of Slade for sitting in judgement of SBF for sitting in judgement of hybrid.

I'm beginning to agree that the faster this thread sinks to oblivion, the smarter we'll all look.
The average person does sit in judgement, it's how we're wired up, we can't help it.
Slade you reacted that way about SBF as automatically as SBF did about hybrid or I did about you, don't you agree? If you didn't want to draw attention you wouldn't have posted, same as slarty, right? We all have roughly the same drives. But it is unfortunate that the fine folks at hybrid put us all in this position by not paying attention to an elementary rule of business.

                    humbly,
                    Rob

what i am curious about is what if he was the one who informed Intel or whoever about the AGD level 10 inside stickers.
Say if that was the case and he came on this board and admitted to it would most of you still defend him so vigirously ?

AGD made the level ten stickers as something interesting, not a profitable item. Well what they did was wrong, the motivation was not profit. I think, obviously I don't know that.

And the answer is yes, I beleive in the protection of intellectual property on all but the personal level.

I don't know if TKs reasoning had any thought of profit / marketing. I'm just trying to qualify my statement as opinion. I don't *think* it was any "smart business" move but instead just meant to "have fun". Obviously only TK could tell you for certain.
