Well...we did get a reply...a rather out of line one at that...but alas..what more can I say..

As for the silly comments that other new members don't get that kind of welcome...sorry, they aren't a bona-fide celebrity. Where were these comments when Bud Orr was introduced here? Where were the comments when Manny was introduced here? Where were the comments when John Rice was introduced here?

It is very unfortunate what this forum has become in a little over two years. At one time, yes there was alot of misconception, alot of false information being spread around. By all rights it was a forum of very ignorant people. One guy seemed to have some answers to alot of questions. A mystery figure named AGD, who for all anyone knew, could have been anyone on the planet with an internet connection. And yet is was a completely level playing field. We were all equals.

Now this site has become an us, and a them. There is the us, the so called celebrities, that for some reason deserve some kind of special measure of respect becuase of their ability to spend a few minutes checking an internet forum. And included in the us is the people trying to catch part of the glow from these so called celebrities and for an instant seem to be more than they really are. The them is every one else. This is the very reason i was so ademently against the deep blue idea when it was first suggested. The whole idea of us and them was integral to the whole concept of deep blue.

So now there is the them, supposedly only left for the purpose of worshiping at the alter of us, after all it would be so easy to click click click ban everyone. So that must be the only purpose we serve anymore, after all, is a person a celebrity, if there is no one left to acknowledge their existance?

But I totally agree with DirtyBunny..I have always felt the same way,and have known people who got banned for simply speaking their idea..

I've been here since the beginning of AO. It used to be a group of decent people. What the hell happened?

I had quite a bit written in this, but I decided that it was all pointless. Nothing but bickering is going on here. This whole thing is complete bull.

It's an embarassment to what AO is. Or was.

Well I'm certainly not going to worship at your altar unless you know how to spell altar (yes I'm guilty of adding a little humor)

In better times we talk about the AO family. Then we disagree on one thing and we are at each others throats calling for moderator blood.....I hope my point speaks for itself.

This is one minor issue. Personally I totally agree with Army (because I shamelessly self promote in my profession since that makes money for the house payments). That is totally besides the point, however. This was one stupid issue and it isn't even important. Lets get back to being a family and flaming each other over issues no one finds offensive

I remember that thread Devil. We did some verbal sparring, and it was uncomfortable for both of us. However I did feel that although we were of different minds on the matter, we were both civil and polite to the other.

On a side note, I am happy to see that you and Moose have put all of your issues behind you. Good Luck!

We can always disagree. I feel that as long as it was polite and not nasty, let it be! I was away when the post that spawned this thread was run and then deleted, but I will say that as long as it was not crass, it should have stayed.

I'm a new memeber "4 months or so" so I can't say awhole lot... but I do have alot of "odd" feelings on the "welcome" threads... well, on the "offical" welcome give this person sponcership threads....
When I first came on this site, was back when I bought a used Automag with boo-yaah off ebay. I joined b/c I had a few questions ... Tech questions...
.... then all the mess happened with "kyla" happened.. so I came here.. in the friendly corner... and posted what happened..... and that's when I became family with all you guys... ... you helped me through a hard time, and I feel in love with mags.. but it was more THIS group that kept me with MAGS.... when I joined.. I didn't get an "OFFICAL" welcome boomer thread... ... I didn't ask for one either... cause I wasn't family yet...

then Kyla and I got everything worked out, and she joined.. AKA Devil...
she didn't have an "OFFICAL" welcome thread... but she did get a "Welcome to AO" from Tom... =]

anyway.... sence then we have bought 6 mags...
1 mag, 2 minimags, 2 RTs, 1 EMAG...

This group is family... and we are all "equal" ... when we have problems is when someone (who has been here longer) gets it in their head that they are better then someone else cause they "do more" .... I have been accused of getting that way cause I "set up" the Monthly GA events... but guys.... if it doesn't break the rules... why edit it...

and dirtybunny... I kinda gotta agree with the deleteding/editing post in the "Welcome thread" .. you should have done what you did do.. =] make a thread.. I know your a good person .. and ment nothing personal... but still when we welcomed the Crossfire guy, we didn't blast him on how crossfire tanks sux... etc... we just welcomed him... =]

but you are right.... in SOOOOOOOO Many ways... and I've seen the "high and mighty" try to blast their way around... but the mods are here to keep peace....

and second as far as not blasting Chris from Crossfire, there was a discussion in another thread with Bea and that's what caused the criticism in the "Welcome.." thread, the original thread was deleted so only the people that posted in it know what was said and that's why it's easy for others to side with one person or the other not even knowing that they're ignorant to the real situation..it's not a bad thing, that's why I've asked people to PM me if they really want to know what was said that caused the blasting..
