yes indeed some is to be expected. In fact it has been surmised for a while that his number two man was running the insurgent thing if anyone was. And a lot of these planned in advance. We need to now get that guy. Expect an uplash for a little while before the word is out and people make choices. Some will chose to not surrender as they are guilty of war crimes too. So they desperate as well. They figure they gonna die anyway. Some of these are in motion and were already. And it may take a while yet to get them closed off.

It appears Saddam had no communiction device. As that would have been something that could have lead to his quicker tracking. And some intelligence earlier points to a plan to have that number two dude run the Guerilla phase. The issue now is that some of the Iraqis may cooperate and others may even take out some Baaths themselves in revenge. They might be more likely too now.

The sooner we get the rest of them the sooner we can bring our friends and family (like doobie) back home. I'll go and do my job when my time omes but I will be counting the days till I came home too. But in the mean time if the president can't say it I will THANK GOD THE GOT HIM

Damn right. I may not agree anyone else here on the war but hopefully this will bring our troops home sooner.

That was totaly ludicrous and uncalled for. And pretty dam stupid to even say. And now you act like innocent civilians are not our concern. Now look at the latest bombin of civilians by Iraqis insurgents. And the fact we are trying to capture people killing innocent civilians. And how many innocent civilians did Saddam kill? Again a pretty darn rediculous stance to take and conclusion to draw. Absolutely stupid comments all of them. The cause is worth it to prevent civilain casulaties of the magnatude this tyrant caused. You may think what you like. But you should not even dare to acuse others of not caring. How idiotic. I sorry but it just is. Trying to politicize personal feelings is just wrong. Both of you should be ashamed of even implying that. I lost all respect for you on that one.
First of all I never accused anyone of not caring for the death of civilians (you didn't directly say it, but you did mean not caring for the death of civilians right?). I am just trying to point out the incredible republican bias on this forum and the fact that when someone takes a democratic or liberal stance they are called an idiot or "pond scum". I know sadam has killed many innocent people in the past but that is not the reason we went to war, if someone really does believe that then they are the one who is naive. In numerous countries around the world many innocent people are killed by military groups and our government does nothing about it. Maybe we went to war over the fact that Sadam may have contributed to whatever aspects of 9/11, which has been proven somewhat true. Maybe it was because of all the weapons of mass destruction we said he had, but have yet to find. Although I have not been able to read it, I just saw an article in newsweek about how the government may have falsified documents to prove that iraq had the wmd, there have also been a lot of other reports about this. I dont care if this forum has a political bias, as it would be impossible to not have. However, the mods should just close political topics, not allow the vast majority or conservatives to ridicule the "pond scum" liberals.

And no one gives a speech like Reagan

Anyone who missed any of the coverage (or doesnt have cable like me) can watch good video clips on foxnews for free (I think cnn and msnbc make you pay).

We do close political topics and I not realy happy with either side that was taking this topic of world events and making it so. Either side. But I am trying to give some leeway. Because its inevitable that its going to slide over there from time to time. However I do not appreciate the name calling on either side. You make a good point and I am going to issue a warning to those of you that chose to do this. Please lets keep it a clean debate. And tone that down.

However ...to lash out at people and accuse them of not caring about innocent civilians BECAUSE of their poliitical views on this issue is not constructive and also is offesive to BOTH sides. If you do not want it to go political please do not contibute to that problem by making hurtfull assumptive accusations.

Both sides need to stick to the subject. It's not about that at all. Nor is the lives of our military or civilians being aided by politicizing that. We can try to keep it as non political as we can and discuss the ramification of Saddams capture. It's a fine line. But hopefully we can do that. Otherwise it will get closed.

I will take you comment as an apology that you did not mean it the way it came across to me and we will leave it at that. Fair enough? And I will take some steps to qualm the name calling. Liberal or Conservative.

I think the problem is more of trolling. People post half-truths they know will inflame others into moving off topic so they can copy/paste arguements from their parents or other websites (p8ntball1016 was the one who started it this time).

Perhaps a stronger empahsis on keeping topics well...on-topic would help. If a thread was started by someone stating any number of off-topic comments made here, it would surely have been closed. Why allow them to remain in a thread they are barely related to?

Once someone opens themselves up to it I feel inclined to let them get beat on a bit. You ask for it then you deserve it I figure.

And its the members responsibility to stick to subject. Many an hour would be wasted cleaning this one out. It's early so we see where it goes. Most of them here are related however are political. It's not like they are "barely" related as you put it.

he wasn't wimpering. he was only docile and unresistant. they dragged him out, basically.

Also, reports say he is being cooperative. wow, really wasn't all that tough w/o his WMD huh .

Let the Iraqi's try him and punish him. They're the ones he was oppressing, so let them deal out the justice. We caught him, and we can interrogate him so we can leave all that sooner. We need to stand on the side lines here. The Iraqi people deserve to try saddam themselves. He'll be convicted anywhere, so why not make it an appropriate spot, like tikrit for example . After all, the Nazi's were tried in one of their main HQ buildings in Nuremburg. Do the same to Saddam.

Oh, and whoever questioned whether he'd be really convicted by the iraqi people: he'll be convicted. the only question is whether he'll live to be convicted. I'm sure some iraqis hate him enough to bring an AK into the court room and shoot saddam dead. and that iraqi would get minimum for that. after all, who wouldn't want to shoot saddam. all his immediate family and support is dead.

                              He still has some support.

Hmm... your about the only one would say that. I never found his public speaking skills all that good. I do however see an honesty normal guy in his lack thereof.
That's just one reason I like him: he's open and forward and honest. And that simplicity and straightforwardness has a gracefullness and eloquincy in and of itself. It's refreshing to have a leader with such strong morals and values and not only say he holds them but to see them in his words. His words reflect his actions. That's what I like about Bush. And I already knew I'd vote for him in 2004 even before Saddam was captured. He's an even better President than his father, and of course he's MUCH better than clinton, IMO.
