Hey Cryer you are damn good at PS. You think you could make me a cool sig pic? I'd appreciate it... I unfortunately don't own PS.

Some constructive crit. the reflection from the smaller circle doesn't exactly fit. It looks like your light source comes from directly over and to the top. But the shadow from the small circle is more diagonal. I understand reflections but it looks a little akward. I like it though!Originally posted by Cryer
And to see what it looks like on the other grey...
One more thing, the top reflections should probably be a little lighter, or blurrier. Something, it stands out around the edges to much.
Of course this is all just my opinion.

I was thinking about the shadow/reflection point earlier just as I was about to read your post
. I think the reflection of the small orb (its is a reflection, not a shadow) makes sense. Its between the actual object and the center of the reflecting surface. I understand exactly what your saying about the light source coming down from above should casting a shadow below, but I didn't know how to make a shadow (as both orbs are supposed to be translucent...) I'll mess around a little, tho.
When you say "the top reflections", you're talking about the "glare" on the upper half of each orb, right?
I kinda Like how it looks sharp, but the thought had crossed my mind that thats not 100% realistic... What would you suggest? Gaussian blur on the edge @ .75 pixel width?

You could try a blur (.75 sounds about right) or you could try lowering the opacity a little.Originally posted by Cryer

As for the shadow maybe try making a new layer and making a circle the size of the small circle. Fill the circle with a deep red. If it was a translucent circle it would be giving off a very light shadow of a dark red color. Then that shadow layer will need to be distorted and blurred and opacitified to make it look proper.
I see what you are saying about the reflaction, I was thinking about it backwards. It looks good.
You really don't need to change anything but those are just some tweaks you could make.
One more thing, you may want to scale the glare in on the sides. The way that they take up the full circle now is kind of akward and give it more of a flat appearance. Still looks good regardless.

very cool Cryer. I agree with AssaSn about the lighting. But nonetheless, that is a mistake a lot of people would make. I sure would, thats for sure
I like how you did it, very nice. very, very nice...
On the other hand, where did you get the HALO font from your other sig?"I've always said that Pixar is the most technically advanced creative company; Apple is the most creatively advanced technical company"

Jesus is my name really that hard to spell? No one ever gets it right. It is just the word assassin without the i and the first a and the n are in caps.Originally posted by Bluestrike_2

AssassN, not assassn, not assassin, not AssaSn, not AsSaSsN, There is but one way to spell it AssassN AssassN AssassN AssassN AssassN AssassN.
It is like VTEC. It isn't spelled v-tech or vtech or V-Tec only VTEC. Is it really hard some spell this kind of stuff right? People obviously make certain letters capitolized and certain letters left out of word for a reason. JUST SPELL IT RIGHT!!!
My rant is over.

Ok: on this version, I have three sets of orbs. On all of them, I blurred the glare (1.3 pix). On the first one, I added a red "shadow" directly beneath the smaller orb. Had light, 100%. On the second one, I faded the shadow out below the equator of the larger orb. On the third, there is no shadow.
Input?
