What is happening to America (Rant)

We just got back from church. What is happening to our country?

When I was younger, we wore our "Sunday Best" to church every weekend. You paid attention or got whacked. The alter servers dressed very nicely.

Today was just the last straw. Half the church was dressed at least in "nice" clothes if not suit. THe other were wearing Jeans, jerseys, T-shirts, etc.... A teenage girl in the row in front of us was wearing hip huggers and a belly shirt. Now normally I would not be against that , but in church????

Little kids were playing Gameboys. It's just sad. People like that used to be the oddities in church, now the well dressed and behaved families are.

    What happened to class?

Christianity is now viewed as a free-ticket to heaven, it's sad. People think they can go to church twice a year and they are true Christians. They sin all they want, because if you are Christian your sins are redeemed. My uneducated guess would be that less than 10% of people that say they are Christians actually practice the faith as it was intended, the other 90% view it as a win-lose situation: If heaven does exist, they are Christian so they think they can get in. If there isn't a heaven, they didn't lose anything but a couple of Sundays a year. To most people, that's a much better deal than being atheist and having a lose-lose situation: If there is a heaven, they won't get in because they're atheist, and if there isn't they lose nothing. But if there is an almighty God that is fair and just, it won't matter what religion you belong to as long as you live an honest and giving life.

We live in Jersey, I'm not surprised.
People are starting to just do what they want. They dont view the Bible as the a way to live their lives, they view it as just a (Good) book from the past.
Hey, look at that! It's Santa!

I don't think there is anything innately wrong with organized religion, It's when someone takes it beyond what it should be.

But yea, I agree. Fortunately at my home church, most people have respect for that and those who don't have a good excuse. I always at the least wear kakhis and a collared shirt.

times change, the world is changing for the worse IMO
me just being a teenages I am ignorant, but I like to think I know a bit about how the world's changing.
1DE why not say something to the priest or minister and see if he'll say something about it. My priest has before and sadly I wasn't dressed in sunday best at all. Times change and it sucks.

might be time to find a new church there 1de. thats the great thing about religion, if you dont like what is being said or being done you can always find another one that says or does what you think is right. :)

ha. I go to church exactly zero times a year and I am a true christian. I know I am, because I am me. I'm tempted to make comments on your faith but I will not.

If I remember correctly, the Bible says that God created man and woman - naked. He did not care that they were naked, or they would have been created with clothes. I don't remember God saying in the Bible that you have to wear clothes. When the forbidden fruit was eaten that is when they were embarrassed about it.

So I find it entirely appropriate to go to church in the nude. Clothes didn't happen until after Satan tempted Adam and Eve. Clothing is the result of the devil and not God. And besides, God can see through your clothes anyway.

Thou shalt not run around buck naked!

                              WTF???

I am not talking about religion, but respect.

Out of respect people wore their best to church. Out of respect, people behaved. Our society is swirling the bowl headed for the sea.
