Not at all. That is your right. However that being the case, stay out of my Church then and we will both be happy!

My parents took me to church when I was a child, and yes, I always dressed up. I still do most of the time. However, just because society says it is the thing to do, automatically makes it right? Sorry, but I still have no problem with someone dressing "normal" (every day clothes like jeans and a modest tshirt). As I pointed out from Scripture (isn't that what church is supposed to be based on anyway, Jesus Christ and His WORD, not the traditions of man?), God looks at the heart, while man gets hung up on whether or not you're wearing a tie.

        So anyway... :)

Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with Business style casual dress at church. I have a problem with flip flops, shorts, belly shirts, and jeans in church.

            Why? It doesn't affect you.

And before you think that I am some goofy, goth, punk, some other random label, athiest, unsophisticated, trashy, spitting weird creepy guy... Don't, because I have standards myself which I uphold... but personally, I don't give a good godamn about what other people have to say or do... So long as it doesn't affect or pertain to me.

ME close minded? Oh, the irony.

I'm atheist, make all the comments you want. I regret turning away from Christianity, but it was something that seemed to be out of my control. I started questioning my faith when I was in confirmation, and I partially blame my pastor because he couldn't answer some of my questions and worked around others, and it was sometime after that that I completely lost my faith. It wasn't something I wanted to happen, but I had so many questions and so few answers, and I just didn't know what was the truth. Some of you may be thinking that I'm just some punk that wants to stand out, but that's not it at all. I would give anything to be Christian again, because nothing is worse than the feeling you get when you realize that 100 years is all the time you have to live. And it's not easy to turn back; I can't just start going to church again and miraculously regain my faith. It would be about as hard to make me a believer again as it would to turn me gay, it's not simple. For now I am but a prodigal, trying to find my way home.

I always figured that putting on your best clothes for curch was a form of respect for God. That being said, I have no problem with people wearing whatever they feel is appropriate. One of my major poblems with the people at church is they turn it into a fashion show. Dress for God, not for each other. Who cares what so-and-so is wearing? When it comes down to it, I don't think God cares what you wear as long as you are there for the right reason.

You never argued with me, as you never defended yourself or answered any of my questions. You used an emoticon and said the same thing you have been saying for two pages: Its respect!

May as well throw this in there too: I don't dress inappropriately... When it calls for it, I will wear a nice suit, dress clothes, or whatever the situation calls for. I simply don't understand why you care so much about what everyone else is doing... I certainly don't.

Because talking in church, playing video games, and dressing like a scrub are disrespectfull in a church setting. It is inappropriate. It is the old time and place argument. There is a time to play gameboy. In the pew behind me at church is not that time. It is also disruptive.

                      Is that better ?

                        You're gay?

Good luck to you in your quest. Soemtimes your faith can be inspired by the right situation. My wife was a non practicing Methodist for the early years of our marriage. As it was her beliefs, I never pushed her to convert. I still went to church. After we moved to NJ, she fell in love with our little church and became Catholic. Some religion different situation.

You made a fairly valid point, finally, when you said it is disruptive. Their you go; THAT affects you. THAT is something to complain about...

But all of these other things... Once again, you simply changed "disrespectful" to "inappropriate."

I'm sorry, but I really don't think any person can justify being offended by something like this, which shows.

When I was younger, we wore our "Sunday Best" to church every weekend. You paid attention or got whacked. The alter servers dressed very nicely.

Today was just the last straw. Half the church was dressed at least in "nice" clothes if not suit. THe other were wearing Jeans, jerseys, T-shirts, etc.... A teenage girl in the row in front of us was wearing hip huggers and a belly shirt. Now normally I would not be against that , but in church????

Little kids were playing Gameboys. It's just sad. People like that used to be the oddities in church, now the well dressed and behaved families are.

                            What happened to class?

Not everyone buys into Christianity anymore since we aren't forced to and don't believe you have to do anything other than believe and worship.

I will somewhat disaggree with you, today I wore jean and a collerd shirt. I am a true christian and I dont really think it matters what you wear (though a belly shirt isnt what im talik about here because that could make a fellow believer stumble.) what matters is the reason why your there.
