for starters, it may or may not matter, that I am not a religious person now, and its been a while since I even considered myself to be.

however. as I understand it, god accepts anyone that wants to come and pay hommage to him (except the gays, right scott?) and they can visit one of the many real estates he owns, known as churches and do so.

having said that, and getting it out of the way, I dont think clothes should matter. yes, I think the playing of portable games in the house of god, without asking if he wants a turn, or offering other patrons a turn, is a little rude. however, if god thought it to be disrespectful, then god would smite them, and it would be over with.

clothing should not be a matter in a church. how you dress should not be a matter of discussion.

are you any better than the homeless man that comes in off the street to sunday mass? sure, you may own property, you have a wife and kids, you have a house, but are you really any more pious than that man? his clothes may be tattered and torn, he has no place to live, but, he makes it to church. are you going to say that he cant attend, just because of his attire? if not, I wouldn't think that there would be anymore to discuss. however, since you and I seem to love to butt heads.. you will respectfully disagree, and the thread will go on.

I am not saying you are not right to be upset about what you see. It has been a good 6-7 years since I purposely set foot in a church for a sunday mass, so, I'm not up to speed on what churchgoers are wearing now adays. I wouldnt think it would be too much of a problem, but, apparently you think it is. I guess you should be greatful for a few things.

1) your parents raised you to be a little more respectful than others. and you exercise it
2) those you see that are dressed the way they are, may be just as respectful as you, or they could have a thing or 2 to learn. either way, its their choice to go to church dressed the way they do. its not something I would start complaining about. with the recent church scandals, they should be taking parishoners any way they can get them.
