Wow this thread was not about religion. So leave it out!!!

I am not a grouchy old man Aaron! THey can hit the ball into my yard if they want! They just have to avoid the canine land mines while retrieving it!

Ha ha...You know I was joking around dude!!! You just sounded like such an old man with your doom and gloom about the younger generation. I just HAD to make fun of you.

But the person playing the gameboy. If my kid were playing a gameboy (and I'd have smacked him if I noticed) and you said to him, "That game boy is distracting" I'd have totally thought you were justified. That is totally inappropriate...

Now if you tried to tell me how my child could dress, that is another thing entirely. Then we'd have to enter the speedball court of 'honor' and settle this with flying paint.

but posting it here brings up awareness of this problem within the church. I usually go in a nice pair of blue jeans, and a nice shirt, with my black boots or shoes on. I look nice so I think that it is perfectly acceptable to wear to church. But hip huggers and a belly T. are not acceptable.

Where does it say that in the Scripture? It's not about you, and even if you think you're fine God might not think so. Good points on the action/faith post BTW.

We just got back from church. What is happening to our country?

When I was younger, we wore our "Sunday Best" to church every weekend. You paid attention or got whacked. The alter servers dressed very nicely.

Today was just the last straw. Half the church was dressed at least in "nice" clothes if not suit. THe other were wearing Jeans, jerseys, T-shirts, etc.... A teenage girl in the row in front of us was wearing hip huggers and a belly shirt. Now normally I would not be against that , but in church????

Little kids were playing Gameboys. It's just sad. People like that used to be the oddities in church, now the well dressed and behaved families are.

What happened to class?

Thankfully people are starting to wake up and pull themselves out of the grasp of organized religion.

The church has essentially lost all power in Europe which is why it is trying to hard in Asia and South America.

My church was probably the most 'come as you are' church ever. Nobody really cared what you wore, just so long as you were there and were not disruptive.

Playing Game Boy during the service isn't right though, those kids should have a little more respect than that. My church has a lounge for kids to sit in and play during the service so they don't get bored and cause trouble.

But alas I no longer go to church as I am no longer in favor of organized religion. I prefer to worship God in my own way and on my own terms, and I don't feel I need someone in a robe to tell me God loves me. I talk to Him every day, and since I've started worshipping on my own I actually feel closer to God.

I too feel that if you want a relationship with your god then you don't need to go to a building built by a man to do so.

Myself, I am agnostic.

Coming from a Jewish heritage I think organized religion can be really stupid at times. It amazes me to see so many Jews put more of their faith in the Talmud than the Torah.

(Sidebar - The Torah is supposedly the story of the Jews from Genesis on whereas the Talmud is the record of all rabbinical law based on the lessons in the Torah)

I mean seriously. No where does god say that eating meat and cheese is a bad thing and if pig is such a forbidden animal then why the heck is it so darn tasty!
