Write your paper about the game of airsoft and the positives that it enforces. Write about the safety standards that all firearms owners should follow. Begin wiht stating unequivocally that you did not, and never would, use the airsoft gun on campus.

Watch bowling. Try and come up with an excuse other that Heston's pathetic "The blacks are out to get us." expalination for gun deaths in the US.

I was OK with it(suprised yes, but ok) until the bowling for columbine part. I don't see how they could associate that movie with legitatime gun control, even my crazy liberal friends recognize that Michael Moore just manipulates things to make his movies entertaining. You have a anal RA. I think I'm glad I was in a guy's only dorm. That meant a Guy RA. Both of my RA's were much cooler about the paintball stuff. I told them that I had it, and they said so long as I didn't fire it indoors I'd be ok.

On top of that, some guys down the hall bought one and were dry firing it in the hall when the head of our dorm complex wandered by. He said: " cool, can I try?" Geeze

And the weapon policy is pretty clear, we're not allowed to discharge, own, posess, consider posessing, or have an innocent daydream about touching any possible sort of "weapon." So, yeah, I broke the rule, and I'm not expecting to get off on some technicality.

An airsoft gun isnt a weapon... it was empty, and you are older than 18. You also dont need any sort of gun liscense to own one either. WTF is writing a paper going to do?

School rules don't have to have anything to do with laws. As long as they don't discriminate due to race, sex, creed, dissability, etc.

yes, and it has (twice that i know of). in one case it was on my floor, two guys were shooting it in their room. the ra told them not to use it on school grounds anymore. the second case was when a guy brought one to the weekly capture the flag match. a campus security gaurd saw him showing it to his friends and told him to put it away, end of story. i heard the first one when it happened (im right next door to the guys) and i witnessed the second one (from about 10 ft away). super-liberal was an exaggeration on my part (macalaster college is super liberal, we are just liberal), but it is quite easy going.

Your door should have been shut. But the RA is a complete tool- with consequences as serious as expulsion, the RA has no concern for their residents.

Don't do anything stupid. Write the paper, but take this as an opportunity to lobby for change in the college. Try and get them to change the rules--that's what college is ABOUT, taking a stand on things that are important to you.

Ok I have several things to say on this subject. Firstly, BAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAAAAAAHAHAHA. Etc. Secondly, I cant count on one hand how many times Ive been cited for "firearms violations" Ive gotten, and they are violations worth fighting. If you have a girlfriend, or simply friendly girls, I would highly reccomend having the RA beaten. It is an effective method at getting your point across, and when done properly has no repercussions. You may think I am joking by saying that, but seriously, she needs to be slapped around a bit. Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, dont live in the dorms. I would rather live under a bridge than condone giving an idiot power over me. But then Im in the army so thats a might bit hypocritical I suppose. But at least Ive learned to treasure my freedom. Honestly, if I were in that situation, I would promptly transfer to a different school and encourage as many people as possible to do the same. Its not worth YOUR time and money to be paying them to treat you like that.
