Why are so many so called "vets" so scared of

noobs with Ions/affordable-high-ROF-guns. I suppose its more hatred than fear.

The whole "how the ion changed the industry" convo. has been done to death. The whole "noobs with Ions who think they're AGG." convo has been done to death.

Granted the majority of the haters are mostly young people, but why would so many people be afraid of a little competition. It is easier to compete now, in terms of fire power. Has the drive to win on the rec level become so ridiculous that these so called "vets" bash on newer players with little skill, just to stroke their own ego?

Well the Ion DID change the industry. As its been done to death I will leave it at that.

Noobs with any fast electronic marker think they are AGG, they just haven't figured out ( or been taught ) how much they really suck yet.

I am a vet but don't hate new players or the markers they use. Well I don't really like Ions but its not a fear or "hatred" thing. I just think they look and feel like cheap toys rather than like a quality piece. But hey, to each their own.

I'm not afraid of them. Heck, I embraced the 21st century and joined them, unlike some(not all) "vets" here.

I don't hate anybodies marker. If there is something I don't like it would be the person. If you are a nice person and not full of yourself you are fine by me no matter what you shoot. I met one older guy (55 or so) who was using a really sweet Ion. I would never buy one but he liked it and that is all that matters. As far as the punk kids go, they will get theirs. I don't care if they have the baddest G-7 or what ever, they will learn one way or another.

I'm not afraid. I will play speedball against ramping timmies with my mech cocker, I don't care about being outgunned, I suck at PB anyway ( ).

What I do care about it kids overshooting other kids because they now have the ability to shoot 15bps, but not the maturity to handle it.

Ions are great, and I really give SP props for designing a marker they can manufacture cheaply enough to put it in people's hands for the price they do.

BUT, there is now a greater need than ever before to educate the user of the marker as to the firepower they now wield. (and by educate, I don't mean hosing a target at the chroney range and then saying "That's what you can do now" while giggling like a school girl . . . . . )

Kids with super markers are fine, but they really need to be taught how to use them in a manner that will not damage anyone. This goes for ANY super marker, not just an Ion or Bushy, etc.

Past that, they can do whatever they like.

So yeah, bring on the overshooting, I'm built like a frickin' oak tree anyway!

I agree with you about the maturity part to a certain degree, but "overshooting" is more a result of the design not so much the user. (IMO) All people get amped up in a high pressure situation from time to time and certainly may squeeze off a few unnecessary shots. When the controller for the board is adding shots to that rate there is nothing you can do to stop it from firing the shots already "made". As you become more seasoned you may deal with the pressure better and be less apt to pull too many shots, but be you a noob or seasoned veteran once the ramping has kicked in you would have to be Neo to stop whats already in motion.

Was that from my quote? Don't worry, I am 33 and there is not to much I can do about it at this point. Your only as old as you feel. I guess that means I might be closer to 50.

Cop out. I shot ramping markers for about a year, and I do not beleive I ever overshot anyone as a result of the ramping marker. Anyone I did overshoot I clearly intended to, the marker just allowed me to do so easier.

Too Old? Hell, I am in my prime :)

I hate to burst anyone's bublle but honestly I could care less about the IOn or what somebody else is shooting. When I see a kid spouting and ranting about his glorious Ion I do get a chuckle, they are so proud of their toy. It almost sound slike they are trying to convince themselves of something, not others.

I do not like the Ion one bit. I wouldn't own one if you gave it to me....okay, maybe I would accept one for free. Why? No other reason then when I held one it gave me the impressioj of being a cheap POS. Juntly or unjustly, that is the impressio it has left on me. I definitely do not fear them on the field either. If the Ion owners love 'em that's great but don't expect me to jump on the band wagon.

i dont know many if any players scared of newer players with higher ROF guns.

however the main problem that i see is the inability to judge when your hitting somone and when you do/dont need to shoot fast..

IE some newb shooting an older guy 4-5 times point blank in the back of the head

paintball is a dangerous sport and with higher ROF comes more danger.

it generaly isnt a problem but some people dont know how to sue their wquipment responsibly

also short trigger pulls + new players in courtyard=bad times

and on a sidenot if you see some kid with a dm4/ion spyder w/e and they dont know how to use it your gonna make fun of them regardless

----edit also after reading some post im pretty much in agreeance with ryan(coolhand) on this one

I dont think that anyone is 'scared' by the ion. If WGP or WDP made it half of the Ion haters would think differently.

Personally, I dislike it because it feel cheap and wreaks of poor quality. I have also had some bad dealings with smart parts and smart parts guns in the past, so i wasnt exactyl jumping for joy after I shot it for the first time.

I do think that it is brilliant though.. it has put affordable firepower into players hands who dont have thousands of dollars to blow on higher end guns. It basically cemented the modern style of play but helping to keep players out of the woods and in tourny style games.

Have you ever realised how cheap that crap is. I swear If I hear anything (good or bad) about the ION on another forum, I am not gonna be happy. I am tired of the IONs. It is stupid. If you like IONs, then like IONs. If Vets hate IONs because they are cheating compared to what they play, then let them. I just wish you all would STFU about IONs. We are on Automags.org. Go talk about IONs elsewhere.

Im sorry if I am so mad right now, but I am not having a happy life. Drop the ION talk, and leave it be. Not only is ION a dead horse, your theory and every other ION idea is all just a huge horse that everyone is continuously beating like a pinata. Just put down the weapon, and let that horse R.I.P.
