Im sorry if I am so mad right now, but I am not having a happy life. Drop the ION talk, and leave it be. Not only is ION a dead horse, your theory and every other ION idea is all just a huge horse that everyone is continuously beating like a pinata. Just put down the weapon, and let that horse R.I.P.
Yeah, that was a totally random anti-something rant.

I'm gonna have to side with Lohman on this one.

Ions to kids to me... is as to handing the keys to a high end car to a kid with a learners permit. Sure they are both safe by them selves but add in inexperience , no skill when it comes to maintaining the thing, and no clue of SAFELY operating said machine. all you get is bad things waiting to happen...

Hell I watched a kid with an Ion drill another kid mid field like 10 feet away half a hopper all hit this one kid because the ramping on his gun was way to high and he adjusted his trigger way wrong and it got stuck in uber bounce mode... Dare I forget the kids running around with ions with non agitated hoppers and 9 oz tanks....

I dont like ions , I think that in the long run it will cause problems. Not that I havent seen any yet

I'm not scared of ions or any other high end electro gun out there. Generally the most I can shoot in a game is ~6-7bps, but I aim my shots much better. I'm a diehard woodsballer, and a front player in speedball. I make my shots count. It just doesn't bother me having my bunker getting laced. The bunker is solid, it'll stop balls all day. When they're hitting your bunker nonstop, you know where they're pointing. Then you can go out the other side safely. High end guns don't bother me in the least... unless I'm the last guy vs 3 others. Kind've a disadvantage

dude, get off adam gardners dick man... really. Do they pay you? I cant read a thread without "hey have i told you how much SP rocks?" or "hey i dont know why you all hate SP so much, they rock" "i have played since 1980, thats right before the first recorded game, and that means i am qualified to tell you SP is the best!"

As for this thread; our sport has always walked a fine line; skill v firepower. In the 20bps world, many skills get left behind. Many of us vets were brought into a community that was decent, fun, supportive and competative. Unfortunatly we were the garudiand of our sport whilst if went spinning down the crapper (in my eyes at least). All else has been replaced with one driving need to be THE BEST, and in the drive to get there cheating, screaming, fighting, ref shooting, are all accepted and in many cases embraced.

Its not Ions that changed the sport, its the mentality and the kiddies behind them.

As for SP yeah they are the same, crap...smelly smelly steaming crap. And as a vet thats my unbiased oppinion.
Tom was the last of a now extinct breed, a breed of players who build a community, a breed of owners who gave to the sport never taking more than what they deserved. I hope to see you at the feild again some day....

this is an interesting point, man. Its definitely an appropriate analogy, involving factors of ability, experience (or lack of) and resposibility.

It's not. It is just that our inherent nature as humans is to argue--even if you don't have anything useful to contribute to the argument.

Ion's, like any other markers, are special to the players that like them. I think Cool Hand hit it right on the head, it's the overshooting. As was already mentioned, even ramping boards can be controlled with the trigger. Again, it's not the marker it's the player. We'd see less of these threads if players learned trigger control, aimed and had some sort of honor in the game.

Like others have stated, it's not about the Ion changing the sport (it didn't) its about the natural progression from "I've played for 8 years (or 25 in some cases) and I'm good cause I have learned and experienced", to "I've played for 1 year and I'm good because I spent thousands on my equipment".

Those of us who have played the game for an extended amount of time have learned that bonus balling doesn't help the game, and eye for an eye doesn't either. "I cheat cause they cheat" never sat well with me.

Its not about the equipment its the attitudes behind them.

But I suppose that doesn't really matter since it is truely a differnet game than it was even 5 years ago.

Whatever, and what really is the point in these discussions? They certianly aren't making us any smarter.

The ION did not change the industry at all....only the perception of many people in the industry.

The Spyder and the especially the E-Spyder has had the largest impact on the sport by a long shot.

ok, i might represent the noobs. I am a noob. I wanted an Ion. But, i dont want a gun everyone has. And, a lot of the kids i know who have them are 11 and are worse than me (and im bad), so, im getting rid of my triad for a mag. but, i dont hate the gun, because i understand a $300 electro is a good deal, but, its gone a bit far now. but, i think that peopel with less than like 1 years experiance shouldnt have fast shooting, ramping electros.
