Import cars, or domestic?
Tags: None -
I wouldn't say imports "stomp" domestics, but off hand I can name more Import sports cars then domestic... I mean we have the Viper, Vette, F-Body, umm.... mustang? Whereas imports can go for an RX-7, RX-8, Supra, NSX, Skyline, 300zx 350z, yadda yadda yadda, not to mention the european cars...For sports car, imports stomp on Domestics..
But before this becomes a messy import vs domestic, remember one thing: ANYTHING can be made fast with enough time, talent, and hard work. Simply DENYING that imports can be made fast is ignorant. Simply DENYING that american cars can only go in a straight line is STUPID.Hey Zero, how much did that Chipley cost ya?

*Edit* I consider any cars imported "imports", not just cars made in Asia..
Off the line a Viper might have the advantage, but in the long run 911 will come out victoriousComment

I would agree with this post but for one thing......Originally posted by TheFlamingKoosh

American cars can ONLY go in a straight line? How odd.... my Sister-n-law owns both a Vette and a TransAm, and I own a Mustang..... and I know all 3 of these things don't have a single problem turning.
In fact, ANY car can be made to go either fast OR to handle well in curves... Domestic OR Import.
I guess you are calling me stupid then?

Hold on friend, you need to research your top ends for these cars. I love the 911, always have, but I think you may be mistaken..... anyone want to get the numbers for these two?Originally posted by irbodden

I would imagine that the Viper and 911 might be pretty close off the line, but after that I really don't think the 911 can keep up in the "long run".

Didn't the Vettes (C5-R) and Vipers win their classes in the SCCA? or was that something else I was thinking of...Originally posted by irbodden

*edit* Ferraris are right up there as wellHey Zero, how much did that Chipley cost ya?

I have my doubts that a Mustang will keep up with a 911 Turbo or a Ferrari... Where did ya see this?Originally posted by shartley
Actually the reviews and stats I have seen this year have put Vettes, Vipers, AND Mustangs along side the other cars you mention, and in fact depending on the test, ahead of some of them.Comment

We aren't talking about the normal everyday mustang here... It was a heavily modified Saleen... I always try to watch the road racing courses on speed vision, and one race it was pretty much a dead heat with a saleen mustang and porsche... The mustang ended up winning that race, but I don't know any specifics on what class/competition/or anything else...I have my doubts that a Mustang will keep up with a 911 Turbo or a Ferrari... Where did ya see this?
Remember what I said the second post!Hey Zero, how much did that Chipley cost ya?
