I'll take domestic over import for the simple fact I love the roar of a 350. Also, I see too many riced up(read-performancely challenged)imports to really want any association with them. If given the choice between a 10 second supra and a hotrod that needs some work, I'd take the hotrod. Just preference.
BTW, Money cannot fix everything. If you replace every single part on a civic, is it a civic anymore? No, it's a frankenstein. You can only polish a turd a little while before you wear away at it.Comment

But in times when gas is getting up there, I would rather have the import as the car. You can make them fast(not the fastest but enjoyable to drive), more fuel effecient(yep), and look good(IMO, and yes I dont like huge wings or tezzas or any wheel above 17").
But if gas wasn't so high, I would like a 68' Camaro with a 502 big block, but we can all dream that gas was $.60 again*sigh*.
Right now I drive a 96 Corolla, with nothing. So don't call me a ricer, thats low. I would someday like a 240sx with a sr20 swap.
Oh and whats so wrong with replacing parts? OK...its wrong for import people to swap engines, improve suspension, and get made fun of it being called frankensteins, but the classic domestic people who put bigger engines in their cars, restore the interior, and other stuff is regarded as ok and not frankensteins?

You know what's really weird? Try picking up a REAL Asian Import Magazine... What I saw in there was basically VW mania, some mustangs, and a whole bunch of other euro cars...

Who likes front wheel drive anyway? I hate torque steer. You shouldn't have to do donuts in reverse. Most imports are fwd. I also for some reason have an allegiance to American nameplates eventhough I know the are not all made in America. If you lose control while turning in fwd you cannot get it back. Rwd you can. Rwd is just more better. As far as Porsches I am just going to have to bite the bullet and I am boycotting all German vehicles. I refuse to buy a Porshce.

Domestics rule when you are comparing to civics and integras and what not. That isnt even a question. But I got love for rx7s, Supras, Mr2s, 3000GT vr4s... Im sure Im missing a few. There are fast imports...such as listed above. But please dont compare a civic to a Camaro or Mustang.....that is just automotive stupidity. Now depending how broad you mean by import as a lover of high performace cars I have mad love for Ferraris. Now vettes...I could really care less. When it comes to stock vettes it has to be a Z06 to beat me(talking straight line...havent raced any vetts in the twisties) even then I havent found a Z06 to prove that. Normal vetts usually wont race me but the few that do regret it. Vipers.....well read the review car and driver did on the viper, it pretty much sums up my feelings on them(basically a high priced muscle car....not very high quality car....high hp but very rough all around[ie muscle car]). Porsches....I dont think much of them but I also havent found and 911 turbos to race me. I have raced but one and that was when my Z was stock and I took him, I was quit dissappointed that day....I had always thought highly of porsches.Comment

. Havent been to a track yet. I never feel like the car is ready. I always tell myself I need to get one more thing before I go. Like right now I want some new tires. The tires on the car are the same ones as when I bout it in 2001 and the clown that owned it before me put some cheapy tires on. It is an LT1. Its power surpasses the LS1. I havent dynoed it either
....another thing on my to do list. It sucks....Im a broke college student so doing all this stuff leaves my broke. And to make it worst last saturday I realized I have out grown my spyder tl plus and its time for a mag or cocker. For the mods I have done and after consulting with other "experts"(Im a www.CamaroZ28.com regular) in the field of LT1 camaros its pretty well agreed that I should have around 380hp at the wheels. And when track time comes am hoping for around a 12.5 time....while I think my car *could* do it I dont think my launching skills are enough to obtain it yet. . In fact it is a good video that kinda pertains to this thread. Its my car with my bro racing(he has a 97' TA...I was tapin). The race was with an Eclipse. Normal an EASY kill. But this dude had some major work done. The dude definatly demands a little respect(my bro toys with him in the vid) although I was quite dissappointed when I saw the big stupid wing the dude put on the back. Not sure what he was running except that there was a turbo involved....you cant here it on the vid but being there believe it was there. Vid:
