"albinonewt, you are correct. you win. im done. i just reread the Declaration of Independence, and i found a part i skipped over the first time i read it. it's the part that states: "

You seemed to have breezed over the part that garuntees the right of every person in the US to marry whatever they like.

Oh yeah, thats becuase it doesn't exist. There is no "right" to marry. Oopsy, little Jack messed up again.

Rooster, you are a genious! now that you mention it, there is NO part in the Declaration of Independence or constitution that gives us the right to marry. so i guess that means that nobody should be able to get married, right?

what IS in the Declaration of Independence is a part that says were all created EQUAL, and that we all have certain unalienable Rights, like Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

you say we should just wait another couple decades for social norms to change to make gay marriage legal, and gay people are making it worse by protesting. think about this, if martin luther king and malcolm x never protested, and if all the black people just waited for social norms to change, we could be having a debate on black rights right now.

            War is peace

            Freedom is slavery

            Ignorance is strength

There are many things that we are able to do that is not a protected right. Such as the ability for adults to smoke. It is not anyone's right to smoke. However some people are allowed to smoke, as long as they arn't smoking where it is prohibited. The same is true for drinking and a myriad of other things. Drinking is my pursuit of happiness, but public intoxication is illegal. So is drinking on state or federal property.

No one has the right to get married. There are laws that allow people to get married. I could care less if you think its fair or not. No one is having their rights violated.

Your argument is flawed. You assume becuase one person is able to do something, everyone should be able to do it. That logic doesn't hold water. Marriage is a legal arrangement, not a personal right. My sincerest hope is that the social norms never change, as homosexual behavior is the same as any other deviant behavior and shouldn't be pandered to just becuase they have a tendancy to be louder than most other sub-cultures.

But the point is there are different sects, and that not all sects claim to have anbandoned polygamy.

Thats why you look like an ***, because you assumed that those links had anything to do with the real "Mormon" church.
