the crappy 98's mainbody is 2 pieces split down the middle, so they had to use a coarse thread otherwise the tolerances would be waay too hard to make the gun as low cost as they did
when they went to the a-5 they went back to their original threading(used on the pro-lite, carbine, pro-carbine...etc)
i suppose they could've kept the crappy coarse threading
but i think they've had some problems with it...
btw, i don't even know WHY i know this, i haven't owned a tippmann in years...

DJ, just shut the hell up. The Halo worked perfectly, and was in perfect condition when shipped. It was shipped insured, so if anything happened during shipping, I'd know about it. And... You are the one who broke it, I mean who the hell tries to run a Halo on 9 volt batteries? Unless you were on some sort of illegal medication I don't think anyone would try to use them...
