No, what hybrid was doing wasnt right by any means (illegally selling stuff with someone elses tradmarked characters on it)

But, going out of your way for the sole purpose of potentially damaging anyone (in this case, a company) is just something that dosent seem right to me either. I mean, you took effort to go track down people for the sole purpose of turning in hybrid. Now, i cant say what you did was wrong in ANY was, but, isnt a respectable thing to do IMO.

I don't think any of us are dense enough to look at those grips and that picture and deny the near direct copy though. Stand where you will on the use of intellectual property without permission, or Slarty contacting people in regards to it, but don't try arguments that hold NO logical value. There actually are arguments that exist that would support the free use of intellectual property.

No one cared when small companies were devastated by SP's sueing. I don't think any of those companies even knew that SP had the patent.

Now Hybrid is in the same position as the small companies that SP sued. The only difference is that it's hard to have sympathy for Hybrid because they KNEW what they were doing.

Are you saying some people think its legal to use a intellectual property work and get away with it? I hope people are not that stupid or misinformed were they think they can get away with, or just think it is ok to share, others peoples work.


I can tell you that ip of an image (for example) will hold up in a court and gives you alot of credibility if you want to pursue people infringing on your work. In fact, if you documented your work with name and date that is about all you can do with images or ideas until an actual deal is worked out or an item is created. You cannot patent an image, because a patent more or less covers working products. It is very had to get a registered or trademarked image also because of the lenghty paperwork and money involved. IP is about as far as you can go with an image.

I still await hybrid response to this.

Copies dont have to be exact. A close likeness (so that the average person can make a logical connection) is all thats needed to be an infringement.

Yak, I'm still confused as to why you are defending Hybrid. They blatantly have broken the law. The comparisons in this thread show that the images are exactly the same. This is not the only image they are copying. They will lose if IOI files a lawsuit.

SBF contacting IOI is not unethical in any way. He was simply curious as to whether Hybrid was allowed to use those images. He got his answer and showed the hardworking folks at IOI that someone was stealing from them.

The german one IOI may not be since they dont share the joyess american holiday as hybrid does. Slarty has provided very little info about anything, but an email between himself and one rep at the IOI company which may or may not be accurate. Ever called a company to get something done on multiple occasions and get multiple stories. How do you konw its not like that? Has anyone seen any official press release about them from either company. Everyone is getting their painties in a wad cause Im not jumping on the AO bandwagon with so little info that has been presented about it. ANd its not cool to snitch, and its not cool to go on public forums accusing a company that has not be officially accused of anything as far as its been released by anyone saying they STOLE something. I understand where you are coming from. In all technicality everyone is guessing the outcome for discussion's sake. Understand, some of us draw our conclusions based on the "facts at hand" and the next logical step. If in fact Hybrid used the images without consent of IOI, IOI can infact, at the least issue a C&D.

As i see it there are several facets of thought behind this. But as you do realize, the issue is clear as day.
