Hybrid has a Bad Day

You have just written and produced the #1 movie on earth. You worked hard to delevop the characters and write the script. You are now rich because this movie, but it didn't come easy.

One day you receive a call from a stranger asking if you are giving a company permission to use your hard work to sell their products. You had no idea that this comapny had used you ideas to sel their prodects to a certain customer base.

Funny, because I thought the exact same thing, but I tend to think of a "snitch" in the same category as "whiny".

Maybe you did the right thing and maybe you didn't, but you're not a hero. I've known a few heros, real heros, and without exception they never brag about what they've done.

this is not the first time, nor will it be the last, that similar things have happened in paintball.

ALL of the publications, as well as the series itself, were sued several years back over the use of stolen imagery in event posters. The artist had a vested interest in seeing her work protected.

At least one scenario game producer was dealt with (how, I'm not sure) over the use of stolen imagery in ads for one of their games.

People in general, and people in paintball in particular, seem to think that once something is displayed publicly, its up for grabs. They'd rather steal than work.

The people who steal are the ones who are wrong, not the people who point out the wrong-doing.

Anyone who defends the use of stolen property, for whatever, is on the wrong side of the argument. Period. End of story.

Do things the right way the first time and believe me, you'll make more money in the long run.

The only "factual" info we have seen on this is a reply from IOI saying "we're on it, thanks".

No one actually knows if its been followed up on or even will. This is even assuming that the likeness of the character is close enough to actually be infringement. In the end this may turn out to be good for both companies involved for all we know.

About this "snitch" thing....
In my opinion there are different levels of snitching. Usually done to protect oneself from the consequences of their illegal action, not just a random act of goodness(?).
It isn't as if Slarty set anyone up and then ratted them out, say like drug enforcement does all the time. That in my opinion is some lowlife crap....but anywho.
I don't know what Slarty thinks he will get out of this, or what really motivated him to do it. Maybe just his own sense of right and wrong, whatever. Maybe he really likes IOI for some reason. I say this particular case of snitching falls under good samaritan. At least I think that was his intent.

Anyway the lesson is, don't steal and there won't be consequence.

exactly what Ive been trying to say for 5 pages, and I get called an idiot. :rolleyes: And everyone still keeps going around CERTAIN that hybrid is in for it, is a dirty rotten company, and I never like their grips anyway, and on and on and on about hybrid when there is nothing factual released by either company. They are gonna feel real stupid when nothing turns out of it. Esp slarty since he is the one boasting about himself turning in hybrid to IOI like scruffy the crime fighting dog.

I thought AO was more intellectual, but they seem to only be when you share the same opinions or agree w/ their point of view. If not, its flaming season. Remanecent of some fools on PBN.

Obviously he (slarty) doesnt even know of hybrids permissions or legal ways to make the grips anyway since he sent an email to IOI asking if they had permission and not asking hybrid instead, which shows his intent was not a harmless fullfillment of information that he wanted to know, but spitefull actions againts hybrid because he may think that grips are all the make and they are for the "agg" crowd. It was purposefully damaging and you guys know it. To me, ppl that side w/ the snitch are just as bad as the snitch and will prolly snitch on you too.

Think of the crap people say when Taiwanese manufacturing is mentioned. How are the weasels at Hybrid who are breaking International copyright law (IOI is German) better than foreign manufacturers with lisence agreements?

I would like to know WHY you had to make multiple threads on the most popular paintball forums about this. Given the fact all you couldve done was sent ONE email to the game distributors. Or better yet, if you wanted to be merciful, you couldve sent an email to Hybrid letting them know that they need to get permission to use those hitman logos.

better yet, if he was curious whether hybrid had permission, he couldve emailed hybrid and asked, but he emails IOI. And he actually has boasted about it in 2 threads on pbn and started this one shortly after.

He thinks he is getting epopular. WEll, it worked a little, he already has a few in this thread humping his leg.

Carbon, I apologize I should have been a little more specific.

I still only see two points being argued about.
1. SBF is a snitch and therefor we should flame him.
2. Did Hybrid actually steal those images and did they or did they not have the license.

Number one is all a matter of opinion. Since Hybrid was making at least a decent profit off of this, someone had to tell IOI. If Hybrid was making little to no money off this then it is not a problem. No one is really getting hurt and I doubt IOI would mind too much but it probably would have been better to ask in the first place. But by going to your local paintball field you can see clearly that Hybrid sells a lot of grips. 75% of the markers I see on PBN have these grips and every time I go to a tournament, some team is always sporting a matching set of grips on their Ions.

Number two seems pretty clear. Unless SBF is making this all up or the IOI rep doesn't know what he's talking about then they are about to get sued off their ***. If SBF made this all up (why would he go through so much trouble for this) then he could possibly face legal action from Hybrid. If the IOI rep was completely wrong, then someone from IOI has to get on here and PBN and explain what happened. If Hybrid has the license but the rep said they didn't than that could be seen as hurting someone's business.

Why is this thread so long? It's so simple.

The whole arguement around this is the facts with copyrighted images. It is true tha no one knows if they had permission. It is opinion only about slarty and his actions, I think he is right to the day I die. But the whole argument came in about wether it was legal or not IF they copied the designs. The pbn kiddies ran with it defending hybrid even if they did steal the designs, which we all know is wrong. I have read every single page on all 3 threads and some idiots on pnb even impressed me with their complete lack of knowledge on this issue.. You jumped into the thread at the wrong time with the wrong impression of the thread. It was not wether they stole it or not, it was wether IF they stole it was it legal or not. It is quite obvious that if they did take the images without permission the case is closed and they did rip off the designs %100. If they did get permission then no harm no foul, they didnt lose any money and gained alot of free advertising.

I still think the bruce lee grips are hybrids, every site I go to have them listed as hybrid. They are also the same colors options and material. Either all the sites are wrong or they ripped off bunkerking too.

And as far as your little rant goes on pbn about the ao community........grow up man. This is an internet forum....for paintballers.....not the ninth circuit court. Have you seen any posts here saying I will kill that kid that snitched, I hope you die, or any other threats of the sort? That is what the younger idioits resorted to with slarty at pbn. In fact, most of the posts here on AO stayed on topic, gave valid reinforcement to whatever side they supported, had some knowledge of the ip laws, and remained mature throughout. Most of the PBN kiddie reached deep within their butts and pulled out the biggest lie they can find and threw it as hard as they could......and then actually thought they were right. I seen about 10 or so intelligent, mature posts on all 3 threads at pbn.

look at yakitori's DM thread in this forum. he has pictures of his DM, with bruce lee grips, with the BK symbol clearly on them. even the sites you linked have "BK" on the grips. its either mislabled by the site, or hybrid produced the grips for BK. they even have the "we kill suckers" BK quote on them.
