So when its fourth down, why dont they just always push the rusher into the kicker and get the 1st down?

Why do you think that doesnt matter?

yeah no kidding they will be done without him

we should beat kentucky this weekend but im not going to see any of it oh well ill watch the tape when i get back
True...however I don't see them doing that though. Washington State is a good team, but it also helped they had a relatively non threatening opener for the season at Idaho. They could get their "game speed" back and work out the kinks before a big test. Notre Dame, as usual, starts right from the gate with somebody good. We don't schedule four or five 1-AA's like K-State to get ready. Anyway, I believe Coach Willingham will have them more mentally prepared for the fight and ready to go. If they can keep it close, their defense will find a way to help the offense win it. Notre Dame has never lost three straight appearances in The Big House, and they've already dropped the previous two. So, at least history is on their side. Either way, it should be a good game. I just hope the offensive line gets better protection than they did in the first half against Wazzu. They made some adjustments, namely swithcing their LG and C around, and that seemed to shore things up quite a bit in the second half. It's tough when you have an inexperienced offensive line to work behind, but they'll pull it together.

Ahhh...you can almost feel it can't you? College football will have some good games lined up. Hopefully, with any luck the Irish will be running over Michigan in an upset. Also, hopefully Phillip Rivers will be zinging balls all over the place as the Wolfpack rebound from their loss to the Deamon Deacons and bury the Buckeyes. Here's to hoping Penn State remembers where they left their balls and slaps the taste outta Nebraska's mouth, proving the "Blackshirts" are still the "Blackskirts". Oh, and just for fun, maybe we'll even see The Pilsbury Throw Boy celebrating touchdown after touchdown on the Tide. Good luck to everybody's teams this weekend.

How many of you sad Irish and OSU fans have foot-in-mouth syndrome?? 38-0

No come from behind 4th quarter win. No 3rd overtime. No win by 7 points or less. Ohio State needs to worry about winning against Bowling Green before they even begin to think of what Michigan is going to do to them this year. Enjoy the memory of the last two years. I feel another 6 year win streak coming on by Michigan.

Yeah, that was one ugly game. Nobody, even Michigan, thought Notre Dame would come out as flat as they did. It was wierd really...they didn't even look like the same team. Sure, ND's offense sucks at times, but their defense is really quite good. Saturday they just couldn't make anything happen or stop anybody. I've never seen this defensive unit play that poorly...you could see none of the guys had any motivation or fire at all. Weird.

As for ND's offense, I gotta wonder what the hell is going on. They installed the west coast offense, especially one in which Ty Willingham's Stanford teams were averaging 35 points a contest. I love the west coast offense (I'm a long time 49er fan in the pros) so I know what it's capable of doing. God knows I hate the option, so I was happy to see that archaic playing style thrown out. But, where's all the crossing routes? The out routes? Drags? Slants? TE seam plays? I just don't understand what Bill Diedrick is doing with this offense and why he doesn't call some of these plays and make things happen. Running the ball is good because we have two good backs, but they seem to only call a handful of passing plays when if fact the west coast is a complex passing attack of sorts.

If you notice, when they yanked Holliday and put in Quinn they suddenly began throwing the ball on routes I haven't seen Holliday given this year yet. I think that right there tells you the coaching staff doesn't have any confidence in Holliday's ability to throw the ball. If that's the case, either demote him or design plays and schemes to utilize his running and throwing on the run abilities. He's not a drop back guy obviously, so they should quit trying to make the "square peg fit the round hole" so to speak.

Anyway, you gotta give it to Michigan...they played a great game and are definitely a great team. Hopefully they beat Ohio State now. As for my Irish, they are a much better team than Saturday indicated and they will be back in full force. It's a long year still, and I have every confidence they'll fix the problems and get to (and win) a great bowl game. I know Willingham's gonna be highly irritated, so expect to see a completely different team this Saturday versus Michigan State. The Spartans do not come into a good situation because this is a proud team, and they'll be angry come Saturday in South Bend. Now, here's to hoping with that anger and hurt pride comes some points and a win! I see us tearing MSU a new one!

                            True true NTN

And besides, I think OSU can beat Michigan. The reason Michigan is doing good so far is Chris Perry. OSU has the best front 4 in the nation and can stop just about any run game, which will force Navarre to throw it. With pressure coming and not being to always rely on Perry when he gets in a tough spot, Navare will choke.

Chris Perry is awesome granted, but Michigan is balanced. Not only is Chris Perry a great rusher, but Braylon Edwards is a phenom receiver. Jason Avant is on his way to becoming a phenom receiver. David Underwood, Perry's apprentice, is gaining big yards. Tight End Tim Massaquoi is big and can run over linebackers. The question is not 'can Michigan beat Ohio State.' The question is will Ohio State even show up.

I will say that Ohio State has good players, but they are not playing as a team. Maurice Clarett was not the center of their world, and Chris Gamble and Maurice Hall are not going to do it by themselves. If they start to play better team ball...they MIGHT have a shot at Michigan. Right now, IF I WERE A BUCKEYE FAN, I'd be more worried about my week-to-week schedule, especially this weekend against Bowling Green's offense, than I would be at attepmting to say that they're going to beat Michigan.

                              Non occides!

All of this debate over Big Ten teams amazes me, for it doesn't matter. We all know the SEC is better, and my team, Alabama, can beat any team in the Big Ten at anytime. Especially if it is played in Tuscaloosa.
