Screw sending the best, send another team from Illinios, another team dressed in orange. They'd do the same thing to bama, in bama's house. They just arn't that good, and never were this year.
Hehe how many national championships has Ohio STate won, and how many has Alabama won?
I'll freely admit, every game with Ohio State is a toss up, and a heart stopper, becuase you know the next game could end it all. The fact is Bama isn't good, just like Kansas State isn't good, and is just at the begining of a long rebuilding process, playing in Tuscaloosa, or otherwise.
ALabama isnt good, they had the best record in the SEC last year y'know? Speakin of not good how good have the teams that have almost beaten OSU been anyway? They havent blown at a team yet, and they havent even played good teams. Wow thats national championship claibre football.

"Then, you pretty much wad that great argument up and take a leak on it by saying the rest of the country wants to be just like OSU."

Your saying the rest of the country didn't want to have the National Championship? Everybody wished their team could have won it all. If they say otherwise they are lying. And my point stands, all the negative feelings twords the Buckeyes stem from the point that everyone thinks it should have been their team. Why else would anyone bring up stupid stuff like how close OSU's games were. OSU won them all last year. Your team didn't. When your team wins them all, they will be National Champions (unless they are Alabama, in which case they will be sitting at home watching the bowl games on TV). Does everybody wish they were an OSU fan? Of course not. Does everyone wish their team was the National Champions? Of course.

Do you even read my posts Rooster? No, I didn't say everyone didn't want to be the National Champion. Of course they did. I said not everybody in the country wants to be just like OSU. Personally, I think OSU sucks and has for quite some time, so I don't know where you get this idea I'm trying to be just like a Buckeye fan. I could care less about OSU...that's my point. Most everybody else feels the same way except for the people from Ohio. We're just tired of the "We're so much better than you, but we're trying to make it look like we're just another team to avoid being called cocky" attitude.

That's the thing you don't understand. I'm not trying to downplay your enthusiasm, or pride in your team. Hell, I'm not even trying to downplay the fact they won it all last year. What I've said all along is, OSU is no dynasty team. Your team won't be the National champion this year, and there's a really good chance they shouldn't have been last year. I'm not jealous of the Buckeyes...I don't sit around saying "Gee, I wish my team was so blue collar...so heart filled. I wish my Irish were like the Buckeyes from Ohio State...the People's Champion...a Champion for the Ages...etc, etc." Phuleeze....get over yourselves.

I swear, you have one team get some luck and some good talent, ride it as far as it will go, and then they start walking around like they're God's gift to football. If Ohio State is so great, then why hadn't they won a title for soooo long before last year? Why'd they get punked by Michigan year in and year out at the end? Why no Heisman winner since Eddie George?

Dude I'm kidding, but this year we're coming out on top. Bama will have to play at there best to bet us.

Well...let's see what we have on tap for this weekend.

My Irish travel to West Lafayette and try to slap the taste outta Purdue's mouth. Hopefully the coaching staff quits playing "Whose the better QB?" since by this point it should be obvious. Holiday's a good guy, but he just isn't playing well these days. With any luck the Irish will return to form and punk the Boilermakers. Damn...I hate Purdue.

Looks like Collegeboy's Tide has a big game versus the Hogs. I'd say with the way the 'backs punched Texas in the teeth the Tide had better be wary. Should be a good game though.

Ohio State gets to slide past Northwestern by a touchdown again this weekend even though Northwestern isn't any good. Alright! More quality Big Ten play!

Hmmm...KU plays Mizzou in the border war. That should actually be a good game. It's amazing how their series is tied after more than a century of play.

Good luck to everybody's teams this weekend!

              GO IRISH!

Thats kinda funny, I would put them in about the same class as MSU this year(Another Big Ten powerhouse ) Are you really trying to make fun of every single team we play? Good God man, every team has a few easier games

Naw man, I understand every team has some easy games...that's cool. Every conference has some cake teams too. That little bit of sarcasm was directed at Rooster's wide sweeping claim of how dominant and hardcore the Big Ten is. Sure, part of the Big Ten is hardcore, just like other conferences, but part of it sucks too. That was a point it seems too many of the pro-Big Ten people in this thread have been trying to deny. I imagine Ohio State will smoke Northwestern, but you never know...I figured they'd score more against Bowling Green and it didn't happen.

I don't know...I'd like to say Notre Dame won't drop a third in a row but it really depends on which team shows up. Since the defense is largely intact from the one it fielded last year...if the offense gets on the same page and the offensive line figures out how to block, Purdue will get smacked around. If the Irish defense comes out uninspired, the line missing their assignments, and the offense out of sync it will be a long day. I don't see that happening though, and I see the Irish winning by 7.

I see MU beating KU by 14 (this is a big game here in MO), Bama losing to the Hogs by 10, and Oregon punching WSU straight in the teeth by 17. Look for Michigan to get back on track against Indiana as well.

Indiana and Northwestern do suck. So does Michigan State. And yet Michigan State beat the nation's premire independant team. Thank goodness the big ten notre dame merger never went down, that would be another sucky team in the conference.

Yeah, that's right. That's why in 2000 Notre Dame went to the Fiesta Bowl (with a freshman QB), in 2002 they rolled up to 8-0, beating Michigan, Florida State, Purdue and anybody else that got in their way. That must also be why they were #3 in the BCS ratings during that span too huh? Oh I forgot...were one of the two winningest college football programs in the history of organized football alongside Michigan. You remember Michigan don't you? The team that usually makes your Buckeyes wear the dress when they go out.

Just so you know, because I'm sure you were so fascinated by your Buckeyes last weekend to see any other games, Michigan State didn't beat Notre Dame...the Big Ten officials did. I'm not trying to make excuses because Notre Dame should have played better. If they had, it wouldn't have even needed to come down to any controversial calls. However, MSU won by six, which was two field goals. Both those field goals came from two blown calls. Period. They got lucky (or paid the refs off...whatever it is you guys do in the Big Ten), and they won the game. No big deal...we move on. However, I suggest if you're going to gloat about a Big Ten team beating mine you should pick a true quality win, like the Michigan game, and not some suck school you all have that slid past us.

For the record, I'm glad Notre Dame didn't join the Big Ten either. First of all, they'd have to change to being the Big Twelve which we already know is a name being used by a real conference. Secondly, Notre Dame is just fine where they are. They get better deals and better money if they go to and win major bowls so why join a conference? Especially when they'd have to share money they would earn with a group of suck schools and whiners?

Good post, but you forgot to say one of the top 3 (for you know Bama has got to be in there )

If you want to join a conference, the SEC is always looking for top teams. It could then become the SEONC The Southeastern and one nothern conference.

Thanks Collegeboy. The SEONC huh? That would most amusing...especially for little gems like when Vanderbilt goes to get the schedule for next season.

"Hmmm...who do we have week four? Notre Dame?! Oh ----!"

Ahhh, good 'ol Vandy. I like the fact Notre Dame is Independent and pulling it off nicely (because while they haven't won a bowl game since the '94 Cotton Bowl, other teams would have wilted by now on their own). Plus it's nice that NBC recognizes and appreciates Notre Dame's tradition enough to give them their own television deal. We don't see "Purdue TV" do we? No...and there's a reason why.
