The guy with 52 posts recommends unplugging a little bit more and get a life to the guy with 10! Yeah, your lack of point was missed.

So coming online for 15-20 minutes, reading a couple posts, replying then leaving.

And being here for 3 years isn't a factor either... 1100 days... 2-3 posts per day = 3000 posts...

I mean... Reading a post takes 20-30 seconds? Replying takes another 20-30 depending on the length, that's a couple minutes.

Just because someone is active doesn't mean they don't have a life... This may or may not apply to me

I play paintball as much as possible, at one point I was playing 3 times a week, lately it's been one time, but I'm working on getting it back up to 2-3 times again, maybe more

I hail str8 from the "good ole days" - die hard woodsy guy - blah, blah - so what. I dropped the sport for a while, got back into it in early 2004 - tried the old school mag woods ball route at 3 different fields for 6 months and RAPIDLY GOT BORED! I have since turned TO THE DARK SIDE MUHUHAHAHAHA!!

bought an A4 Angel, full Dye pant/jerzey, HALO - the whole nine yards and then some. I love the speed and intensity. For everyone else - stop whining.

question #1-why is this thread stickied?
question #2-why argue/discuss/state opinions on something that has been beat to death, dug up, hit with a shovel, and then bonus balled?
eveyone here has an opinion, and guess what.......not one opinion will make everyone happy. there i go, i solved this thread. you can stop wearing out your keyboard and going back to doing something else that is just as uselss.
if you dont like woodsball dont play there, if you dont like e-markers dont buy or play with them, if you dont like dont do it!! it not like someone is forcing you to shoot pump, or making you play in the woods, or telling you that you have to play a certain way. dont worry about what you dont like, be happy and play what you do like.

            Interesting.

These threads always do the same thing. Boiled down.

Original post : "I really don't like what's happened to paintball"

User A : "If you don't like it, you can leave. Get with it or get out."

User B : "Yeah, I don't like the new direction either. We really need to change the direction."

            User A : "Vague threats."

            User B : "Vague retorts."

            and so on.

It's obvious that "can't we all get along" isn't working. So paintball needs to have a general admission that it's two seperate games. Tournaments and Recreational. That way, each style can play the way they want to, and the crossover would be minimal of at all. End of problems.

But, that's not going to happen either. So we're back to the beginning. I could get into dempgraphics, the history and how it's been bassed down, and all that, but it's been done and I'm tired of trying to make that point. So, play your way, I'll play mine, and I'll meet you somewhere in the middle.

can you explain to me how this is not happening? in my state, as well as 3 others i have played at (that is not alot, and i know this), I have never seen a tourney player jump in with rec people on a normal basis and vice versa. I do not think the problem is playing against tourney players, pump players, or playing in the woods, the problem is that some people do not like the speed of the game now, so they do not play the current type of game. I see nothing wrong with letting people not play what they do not like, they do not show interest in it from the beggining so why should they want to play that type of game in the end. Unless rec people are jumping into tourney practices i see no reason for them to complain about being outgunned, lit up, or "out-skilled". There will always be more serious rec players with higher end guns and equipment, and more skill than average rec players so what do you do with them? If you do not like it that that is your opinion, feel free to state it, but there are a lot of types of games people can play so its not like if you do not play a certain type of game you are banned from playing paintball. then again i am young and dumb.

over this side of the pond, we have started getting a good load of sites available to play at, however, many don't cater for walkons and of those even fewer cater for players with air. This straight away has limited the number of sites that a lot of people would play at

During the main PB season, we don't really see a huge ammount of tourney player, mainly due to the tourneys or the practices, however, as the season comes to an end, there is usually a HUGE influx of tourney grade players that return back to the walkons.

now this wouldn't usually be a problem, I like playing against better players in the vague hope that I might improve some.

but I think the main problem is this, you can take the player out of the tourney, but you can't take the tourney out of the player....

meaning these guys(and gals!) as nice as they can be off the field, turn in a pack of slavering rabid dogs who will have no qualms about bunkering a guy with a mech spyder and popping 5 in the neck.

These guys have trained to be competitive and struggle to "shut off" when they move back to the rec games. Put their usual *insert any fast gun* in their hands and they forget that the opposing team isn't Dynasty

Many of the people I play with have complained (and so did I when there was going to be a "fun" tourney - when a bunch of guys that usually play in tourneys together said they were going to play as a team - que 15 pages of shouting and slanging - and me not posting @ that site for a good 3 months) about the tourney guys, but I believe it's not all their fault.

I can understand that they guys have spent out a good deal of money to get the kit they have, and the fact that they have practiced (most of them) long and hard to be as good as they are, but the attitudes are the thing that is making paintball this HUGE target for people to dislike the sport.

even some of the tourney guys I know are bowing out now as they are fed up with the attitudes and the rule-sets changing to support less than honorable play, some of these guys are so dissalusioned they are now playing scenario.

well this has been a long post and I don't feel I have exactly made my point - but I am lacking the descriptions with which to do it without insulting any particular group unjustly...

I hope you all understand this!

Am I the only one who has sees this happening?

Soren I Agree with you the game we learned to play 10-15 years ago is not the same game.
I went out the other day and I was shocked that 12 year old kid was spraying my bunker no stop. If I hadn't peaked to tag him out I'd have guessed I had 4 guys shooting at me at one time but no, it was one little punk. I served In the Green Berets and I am pretty confidant in my paintballing skills as well but there is a definite advantage to shooting 20bps or even 15 when I'm shooting 7 with an autococker that's older than some of the kids playing.

But I must say when We started playing all those years ago the cost of playing was a little more. Shoot, A lot more. a case used to cost 110 at the field, I remember when 10 balls in a small tube cost 6 dollars. TOday sure people shoot a lot more but I as well as yourself can still get by being patient, waiting for that little punk kid to run out and reload and then start pounding his bunker with a 2 bps stream. I prefer this anyways becuase myself, playing with even a pump can still eliminate anyone except a solid pro who can reload and keep shooting non stop.

If you'r einterested IN playing with me I'll figure out a time and we can meet up somewhere I'm currently iN miami but i travel a lot.

                  Cheers,
                  Rinaldo

                    my take

I figured since I took the time to read this entire post I would take the time post.

About the cost thing. You have to live within your means with everything in life, PB included. I have been blessed financially so I have a fully upgraded Shocker and a RPG Paradigm (love it thanks Rogue). My best friend has a smaller budget so he has a spyder (in the process of upgrading). We both still have a great time discussing upgrades and going to fields together. Just different situations. If you can afford any paintball gun you are in better shape than a lot of people who struggle to feed their kids (I have a friend like that too). Don't envy other peoples situation, be happy with what you have.

Local fields. I disagree with the post about the net being a bad thing. You can research products for quality and what is a fair price to pay. Also when buying a gun you can talk to people who have them (this forum helped me come to the conclussion of buying a AGD marker and to buy it customized by Roguefactor, thanks). The more information that you have the better your decision will be, the net is a good thing.

Repeat with me, EVERYTHING ABOUT PAINTBALL IS GOOD. I play speedball as much as I can (5-6 times a month). I was asked to go to a scenerio game with a team last October. What a blast. Was asked to join the team and I did. We will do 5-6 26 hour games this year (check out www.mxsportz.com).

You will come across people with bad attitudes in everything that you do in life. You cannot allow other people to control YOUR attitude. Play fair, help new people, play hard. When you get done if you owe somebody an apology, give them one. If somebody offeres you an apology, accept it. Equipment and paint cost cannot ruin your day, your attitude can. I have been playing 6-8 times a month for 9 months (rec speedball, team practice, tourny, league, rec woods, scenerio) and have never had a bad day.

Thank you for your time and God Bless.

when i was playing 13 was considered fast but now i think there up to 22 or 30 what amount do you think you need to competive against them this is not includeing tactics. i personally seen where guys was shooting or at least shooting 22bps or better but i seen guys keep those guys in a world of trouble by just shooting 13 or better. i agree that volume would increase your chances for a hit but do you ever think they would go up to 40bps or even 50? i find shooting a whole lot has come useless unless you are covering somebody, as their are makeing a move. i mean a whole hopper for just one elimanation. thats crazy thats why i play a few times a year and i play with friends. i lke to watch speedball because its fast action and a easy sell. woodsball or tactical would be a hard sell to kids so they use speedball to pull you in and you decide to stay there or move to woodsball, scenioro. but speedball is the door opener. its just marketable and you can't knock that. if it was'nt for speedball their have not been many advancements we have today. i really don't see the problem with paintball you have a choice.
                      BACK IN THE GAME.

If you take a super gun of today, and a mech from yesterday - it's WAY easier to shoot a new gun at 7 bps than an older mech at 7. The ease at which you can fire a marker I think is important to note. A cocker/mag/etc. from before... took considerable effort (in comparison) to shoot fast. I used to fumble with the trigger, short-stroke... etc. and miss people because of it. And you can't just hold it any which way because you lose leverage on the trigger. The electro made it effortless. You also can't shoot fast for very long without getting tired, not so with a new marker.

You can put paint where you want it, when you want to - easily. You can hold it however you want, shoot really fast as long as you want without fatigue. Instead of fighting with your marker, you can concentrate completely on the game. Somebody had fast fingers with a mech? They no longer have any advantage. EVERYBODY can shoot fast. Everybody is 7'4" on the court.

IMO there is a drastic advantage that an electro has over a mech. And 20bps is not just for show. It's way easier to hit people. Say you have a 0.3 second window of opportunity to hit someone. I'd rather have 6 balls in the air, than 3-4. And you multiply this with how many times you get those opportunities. Better odds.

I think that the younger kids that are getting into tournament ball and developing these horrible attitudes is one of the bigger problems with paintball today.

Seriously, EVERYWHERE I've played, it's "walk on". ANYONE can, and will, jump in. I've had woods games where the local team will jump in to "warm up their guns" for some "serious paintball." I've seen team guys beat the snot out of walk ons becasue they "can't play airball yet". Alternatively, I've seen guys in jerseys completely lost on the woods fields, not knowing what to do.

Well, no, that's not true. About 8-9 years ago I found a field that had pump only games. And some fields have "rentals only" sessions. And this spring I'll be playing at a pumps only event, but that's so rare it's almost nonexistant. The problem is that it's walk on, and that anyone that wants can literally walk on. So you get the new guys playing the hardcore players. So the crossover is constant.

It's been like this for 10+ years, now the divide is greater between rental Spyders and e-guns. It's one of the reasons I take a Phantom with me when I play. "New guys? Cool. I'll grab the Phantom." If everyone did this, the problem wouldn't exist.

sure come on down, or up, or east, or whereever you got to come from. maybe it is just this area, but we do not rape noobs or even advanced rec people. i have actually asked on MANY occasions if i could play with various people (from rentals up to other new tourney teams) and have been told no. so my day usually ends when my team packs up for the day and then my reffing duties start.......
