Thanks E. I also went with your advice about the stainless push rod in the MPA-3. I threaded the end of some 1\4" stainless rod, then drilled down into the delrin piston so the threads would grab. Holds very well. My original thought about using delrin was to lower the weight of the piston, I was thinking of ways to bullet proof.....Guess with an actuator with this much power It doesn't matter!

Also the MPA-3 showing the hole drilled into it from the side.

      Bossman:
YOU DA MAN! thanks for the detailed pic of the actuator. It's one less thing i gotta take a pic of and post. Makes my job easier
if you could get one more pic of all the actuator parts (piston, spring, washer, retaining ring) in a sequencal order, kinda like agd blow-up diagrams, that would be prefect.....

Ok everyone forget what I said in this post. I read the blue prints wrong for this actuator. The 1/2 inch diameter is the diameter of the rod, the whole thing is really a 1 1/4 in diameter.

After you got all the parts, how many dollars would you say were spent. How many work hours did it take?

Would you ever consider building some of these for us on AO. For sale?

I have a SMAV-3 and a MSV-1. I compared both of the 3-ways, stroke and pull oz. The MSV-1 had half the stroke and by far way less oz, and that was compared to the SMAV-3 without the spring!!! There is no comparison at all, hands down to the MSV-1. There are some pluses to the SMAV-3, it is roughly half the size of the MSV-1. The MSV-1 leaks around the stem when the stem is depressed, so it might no be as efficient as the SMAV-3.

...so do you think that a heavily modified mpa-3 is still the best option we have so far regarding choice of actuators?

I really like the MPA-3. Tons of power in a real small space, Pretty easy to get, super cheap for people who like to cut stuff up. I think it's the way to go, and I have no plans to switch to another actuator.

That being said...never stop looking. This is the first thread that I know of that really pushed the fully pneumatic trigger for the mag, look how far we have come in such a short time, why? Because were all sharing and constantly throwing out ideas, posting results, making our little home brew experiments. This is the most fun I've had THINKING about paintball. Everyone, keep up the good work!

P.S. The pic above is the CUT DOWN version of the MPA-3, see how short it is.(.975")

I would have liked to do that but I can't find a tap around here that small.

                              AGD Did someone call me?

You should go to each gun manufacturers forum or call them up. Ask the OWNER of the company why his gun is better. When you get your answers come back here and tell us what they said.

You should buy my gun because I have 5000 posts that say I care.
